About this listen
Oncologist Brannigan Ryan is used to people falling for him. With his black-Irish good looks and easy bedside manner, he's a favorite among patients. Surrounded by death on a daily basis, however, Bran has learned to harden his heart quite effectively. That is until he starts treating Ian Fitzgerald.
Ian's warm smile and determination easily punch holes in Bran's barriers. Taking a step back to rebuild the walls around his heart, Bran takes off to his weekend house on the coast. He can't surrender to Ian, and he can't ever get involved with a patient. When a treasure and a message in a bottle wash ashore on his beach, he's forced to re-examine his determination and wonder if he can't open himself to love after all.
Warning: Contains a sexy doctor who will steal your heart with his steamy bedside manner.

A very touching story.
This is the first book I've read by Carol Lynne and I think she did a great job with the subject matter. The audiobook is only 98 minutes long which puts it into the range of a novelette. I think it takes a good writer to make a shorter story enjoyable. There's not a lot of time to spend on character development so how the words are put together is really important.
Cancer isn't a fun subject but the story has an HEA. The fact that cancer brought the two main characters together allowed for something good to come out of something bad. The story really touched me and brought tears to my eyes more than once.
I also really enjoyed the vocal performance of Austin Jay. His voice is soothing and the cadence / vocal inflections for the dialogue were just perfect.
A complementary copy of this audiobook was given to me by the narrator but my review is being given voluntarily.
