About this listen
People have had questions about the Holy Spirit from the beginning. In the Book of Acts where we have the account of the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit we find that those in the early Church we sometimes unaware of or inadequately aware of Who the Holy Spirit is. The early Church grew exponentially because of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. That causes us to ask, “Why isn’t the Church growing like it did in the Book of Acts?” The Church is growing in some parts of the world. But in many parts of the world the Church is in decline. The reason for the decline and weakness of so much of the Church today, I believe, is that the Church has veered from relying on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and instead has chosen to rely on world-y alternatives to the Holy Spirit. This book is a call to the Church and Christians to return to the Holy Spirit and seek His direction and empowerment. Only the Holy Spirit can make us what we need to be, to do what God calls us to do, for His glory, until Jesus’ returns.
To some the Holy Spirit is a figure in the shadows, and unknown “force.” The Holy Spirit is by no means a “force,” He is a Person, the Third Person of the Triune Godhead. The Holy Spirit in some ways seems mysterious or less overtly identifiable than the other two Persons of the Triune Godhead – God the Father and Jesus Christ. That is because the main mission of the Holy Spirit is to testify to Jesus. The Holy Spirit pushes Jesus to the forefront. The Holy Spirit convicts the sinner of their sin and need of a Savior, and then points them to Jesus as that Savior. The Holy Spirit does all this while remaining in the background. This raise another question. If the Holy Spirit chooses to remain in the background, why so often do those who claim to be filled with the Holy Spirit push themselves to the forefront? If the Holy Spirit is a humble Servant who exalts Jesus, why aren’t those who claim to be His followers?
There are many questions, challenging questions this book will address. If you want to know more about the Holy Spirit and discover how to live a Spirit filled life, this is the book for you. Join me as we journey through scripture learning and drawing closer in our relationship with the Holy Spirit. To be holy means to be distinctive. When you live in the Holy Spirit, it’s the most distinctive type of living this side of heaven. I pray we all experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit. I pray this book will help us all do that.
