Money buys happiness because it buys this book
The desire to be happy is a universal part of human nature. Despite any dictionary definition, every person has different dreams and desires, which means understanding your own definition is the only way to find happiness. When you know what happiness means to you, only then can you proceed towards it by removing the obstacles.
This wise advice in Chapter One of Alex Allen’s excellent short book on finding happiness begins a very sensible approach to the topic. He espouses the notion that you can create happiness for yourself which, in turn, will lead to greater success in life.
In his most profound realisation of all, Allen states that happiness comes from perception. It is a lightbulb moment, and he goes on to ask a series of questions to explain this idea and clearly demonstrate that the way you perceive life is the ultimate key to happiness.
His advice thereafter is useful and thought-provoking, talking about different approaches, posing questions, and providing a comprehensive outline of the path to happiness.
The marvellous Charles Orlik narrates and, having heard him read Allen’s other useful guide to Unlimited Memory, Orlik does not disappoint. He has a trusting voice that is clear, positive in tone, and enthusiastic. Any student will know how dull a subject can be without the right teacher. Orlik is the kind of lecturer you’d like at the front of your class. He has the right balance of seriousness and excitement in his voice to share the journey of discovery with you. As a narrator of self-improvement audiobooks, he’s by far my favourite reader so far.
You can read my full review of this and other audiobooks on my website at SaidNotRead dot wordpress dot com. My only disagreement with Allen here is that he does fall prey to the usual line that money can’t buy you happiness. I disagree because you will want a few bucks to buy this audiobook to help you on the way to happiness.
