About this listen
Halloween Cupcake Murder by Carlene O'Connor: With Galway's Halloween Mystery Tour only a few days away, Tara Meehan is scouring the town's curiosity shops for spooky decorations to draw tourists into her architectural salvage store. But when a stranger appears in her shop bearing a cryptic cupcake and an ominous message, Tara suddenly finds herself tangled in a mystery with ancient Gaelic roots, but very modern—and very deadly—consequences.
Mrs. Claus and the Candy Corn Caper by Liz Ireland: Christmastown is pulling out all the stops for their Halloween celebration, planning a huge carnival with rides, games, and a candy corn-themed bake-off! But the sweet theme stokes the bitterest of rivalries amongst the elves, until tragedy strikes at Santaland's newest bakery. The only clue is a cupcake, leaving Mrs. Claus to sort through tricks and treats as she races to unmask a Halloween fiend.
A Triple Layer Halloween Murder by Carol J. Perry: Every October, Salem plunges into a month-long celebration of Halloween and WICH-TV's Lee Barrett can't wait to cover the festivities. But rumors swirl after a wealthy bakery owner goes missing—and his beloved cat, Cupcake, is found—under mysterious circumstances. Now, amid Salem's wicked revelry, Lee must conjure clues to reveal the missing millionaire . . . or the truth about his disappearance.

Story
After receiving unexpected inheritance from her grandfather, Mercy and her twin sister Lizzie are now the proud owners of a charming antique bookshop in the tiny Irish village of Shamrock Cove. But before they can take in the beautiful view of the sea, one of their neighbors drops dead! Mercy finds the Judge, a well-respected man who lives next door, dying on his own doorstep. She rushes to help, but with his final words, he accuses Mercy of murder! Most of their new neighbors hear his words and, with suspicion pointing at Mercy, she decides to investigate the case to clear her name.

Good stories
Overall a good listen. I wasn’t a fan of the narration, which sometimes distracted me from the story. Still, a fun holiday listen.

I struggled
I love Carleen O’Connor but the narration was terrible. Took me out of the story frequently

Missing the Irish brogue
The story was good but if I’m listening to a book set in Ireland, I want to hear the beautiful Irish accent. Total bummer!

Poor narration, nice story plots
I follow Ms. OConner and really appreciate her narration with the accents and differences between genders. This narrator was really poor especially in the first story line. Won’t be listening to her again.

Light and entertaining. Poor narration.
Cute simplistic short stories. A low key listen if you really want something Halloween themed. The narrator left a lot to be desired.

Mixed bag
I like the first story. Didn’t mind the third and had to entirely skip the middle one (was it a kid’s book!?). The narration didn’t do it for me either. Fine, but not worth a credit in hindsight.

What is that accent? It's NOT Irish.
This one is a disappointment. Lame story. Tired plot points (are the Guards always this stupid), but the narrator has a weird accent for the characters that definitely isn't Irish. Wasted credit.

A Case of Narrater distaste
I've read a couple of other books by Carlene O'connor and enjoyed them. These storys are simple minded and the narrator sounds as though she has a bad cold and is half awake. Slow motion and awful. Glad i didn't pay much for it.

Awful narration
I ended up returning this without finishing as the narration had me wanting to scream. It was a total distraction to the story.
