About this listen

Dead or alive? Only her dogs know.

When an Alzheimer’s patient goes missing, no one thinks it’s more than a daughter’s careless mistake…except Jessica. When members of the patient’s family go missing, foul play becomes a certainty.

The Bitterroot County Sheriff’s Office and the whole search and rescue team kick it into high gear with the disappearance of Sheriff Reid and some of the last surviving family members.

The story of a woman and her beloved pack of search dogs who will stop at nothing to save the lives of both friend and stranger.

Clean, safe listening.
No sex, gore, or profanity.

(And—spoiler alert—yes, dear listener, no dog dies in this book, either). :)

The characters are like real multidimensional people. I also liked the realistic feel of the story.

Well written characters

The narrator was OK when he spoke in his own voice, but his other voices were annoying. I finally stopped listening and finished on my Kindle.
The first part of the story dragged for me, but things picked up later. Love the dogs!
I sure wish Lisa will read the next books that are released.

The narrator’s own voice is fine but not the other voices👎

I have read the book several time and usually enjoy listening to books but this narrator is my least favorite. It’s obvious that he tries to stay true to the characters but it seems like he is whispering or wheezing. As in previous books in the series Jessie and Landon completely misjudge each other. For sure Landon never really understands or trusts Jessie. I love these books but I hope the author chooses a different narrator in the future.

Double misjudgments

Jessie and the dogs do it again. And this time, Sheriff Landon Ried seems to be melting into a nicer person... I always found it weird and unkind how he seemed to dislike Jessie so much, but this time we learn that he's got more than a few personal issues. No details yet, but looking forward to learning more about all of the humans and dogs in the next book!
