About this listen

Akin to being a darker version of The Princess Bride and The King in Yellow.

Listening to this book is like going into a trippy play where animals talk and there are bizarre characters. It is a mind-bending listen with interesting characters and story plot. Believe it or not, it does have a lesson to the story: We all wear masks to hide our true selves.

Talented storyteller: He paints entire scenes with plenty of details. His characters are gorgeously written, making the novel very easy to listen at lightning speed. As you can see this book is highly reflective of the thoughts we share in our heads once in a while. The story is mysterious and poetic at the same time, giving a resemblance to Hamlet.

a DARKER version of Princess Bride, that line was what got me invested in reading this. I'm glad I was able to read this, it does what the description says and I think the book is better than the description. The plot was wonderfully done and I enjoyed reading it a lot, the characters were interesting. I hope to read more from the author.

I had such high hopes...

I'm Rating this High in spite of the fact that I couldn't finish the book no matter how hard I tried, and I'm never that kind of reader, but I just couldn't get past this narration. I felt like I was listening to a robot.

I'm not sure if it was an AI and I missed that or if it just sounded like it, but it took away from the entire reading experience from me and made it hard to follow along for me.

If you can get past the narration though, unlike me, the story-line definitely was giving off the darker Princess Bride I was promised. I just couldn't stay in that world with such a horrible narrator guiding me through it.
