About this listen
What could go wrong?
Bobby Trent, the tough-as-nails sheriff of Lodge Pole County, is surprised when his blood brother Lucas Blackwater, chief of police of the neighboring Cheyenne reservation, asks him to help escort a prisoner from Seattle back to the reservation.
On the flight home, their chartered plane crashes in the mountains, killing the pilot and breaking Lucas' ankle.
The two friends find out it takes more than courage, strength, and determination to get off the mountain, get back to their family, and see that the prisoner faces justice. However, when it's discovered the plane was sabotaged, the questions are: Does someone want to kill them? Why?

Story
Joe Pickett is the new game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming, a town where nearly everyone hunts and the game warden—especially one like Joe who won't take bribes or look the other way—is far from popular. When he finds a local hunting outfitter dead, splayed out on the woodpile behind his state-owned home, he takes it personally. There had to be a reason that the outfitter, with whom he's had run-ins before, chose his backyard, his woodpile to die in.

Cody Hoyt, while a brilliant cop, is an alcoholic struggling with two months of sobriety when his mentor and AA sponsor Hank Winters is found burned to death in a remote mountain cabin. At first it looks like the suicide of a man who's fallen off the wagon, but Cody knows Hank better than that. Sober for fourteen years, Hank took pride in his hard-won sobriety and never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to talk Cody off a ledge. When Cody takes a closer look at the scene of his friend's death, it becomes apparent that foul play is at hand.

Story
Nate knelt beside the dead girl. This wasn't his first homicide, it wasn't even the first dead prostitute he'd investigated. It wasn't the first strangling death he'd been assigned to. But this one bothered him. Maybe it was her youth; she appeared to be in her early twenties. Maybe it was her looks, as death had yet to rob her of her beauty. Maybe she reminded him of his own daughter, Lizzie, who was only a few years younger. Maybe it was something else entirely.

Story
The great state of Texas is a land of opportunity. For outlaws. And horse thieves. And cattle rustlers. Not to mention bank robbers, train robbers, and anything-that-ain’t-nailed-down robbers. The state’s governor, Richard B. Hubbard, is at the end of his rope. He wants to clean up Texas once and for all—and he’s desperate enough to try something crazy: hire a man who can do what the Texas Rangers can’t. A man not tied down by a wife or children. Or rules. Who’s not afraid to go outside the law.

Bobby’s back!
Greener Pastures by Gwen D. Griffeth pulled me in immediately. I love how the author wrote this book bringing back characters from previous books. The imagery is spectacular and I can envision Montana. The action and survival are gripping. The suspense is awesome. Paul J. McSorely is fantastic with his performance. He brings the characters to life with his voice and I can hear who is speaking. He inflicts the right emotions. One can hear the anguish, the frustration, the determination, the pain. The book is so good!

The Wolf!
A pseudo-coming-of-age tale, even though it takes some men longer than others. Not only does “Bad Bobby” Trent learn more about himself, but he also discovers much more of a spiritual connection with his Native American upbringing. There’s more of a loving and sentimental flavor to this volume than the first two. Deputy Nixon experiences a bit of transformation herself after surviving a harrowing encounter. And KC, will KC let go and give in to her inner desires? KC and Bobby belong together. It’s mainly a question of whether Bobby will settle down and behave. I enjoyed this story and recommend the entire series. Once again, this third volume could pass as a standalone novel. It was interesting seeing Bobby’s reactions to his actions in the last book and how it affected him during this tale. It was well written, and the narration was great. I’m excited to listen to the hopeful next one!

Great Story in Big Sky Country
I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Greener Pastures - Big Sky Series, Book 3 by Kwen D. Griffeth and narrated by Paul J. McSorley. I hadn’t read or listened to books 1 or 2 prior to listening to this story. It didn’t seem to matter though. There was enough back story information such that I never had any questions into what may have happened previously. Overall this was a very entertaining and engaging story. I liked the descriptions of the countryside and I really liked the spiritualism ideas that were portrayed. Great narration by Paul, he made the story come alive in my mind.
