About this listen
What happens when we literally walk out our Christian life? Drawing on Jesus' lived example of walking, pastor and bestselling author Mark Buchanan explores one of the oldest spiritual practices of our faith.
We often act as if faith is only about the mind. But what about our bodies? What does our physical being have to do with our spiritual life? When the Bible calls us to walk in the light, walk by faith, or walk in truth, it means these things literally as much as figuratively.
The most obvious thing about Jesus' method of discipleship, in fact, is that he walked and invited others to walk with him. It's in the walking that his disciples are taught, formed, tested, empowered, and released.
Part theology, part history, part field guide, God Walk explores:
- Walking as spiritual formation
- Walking as healing
- Walking as exercise
- Walking as prayer
- Walking as pilgrimage
With practical insight and biblical reflections told in his distinct voice, Buchanan gives you the tools and encouragement you need to immediately implement the practice of living at God's speed.
Praise for God Walk:
"In this beautiful, inspiring book, Mark shows us how the simple rhythm of walking can take us farther on the path of wholeness, joy, and God than we imagined possible. Poetic, poignant, and immensely practical, this book will change your life . . . one step at a time."
—Ken Shigematsu, pastor, Tenth Church, Vancouver; bestselling author, Survival Guide for the Soul

Story
Our perception of God makes a difference in every crevice of our character, from our inner anxieties to our public conversations. It determines whether we're trusting or suspicious, whether we're happy or discontent - and whether or not we can rely on God matters mightily on the day of our death. Mark Buchanan's third book continues his penetrating exploration of the God we worship. Bravely and honestly, he poses the direst question of human existence: Can God be trusted?

Story
Stillness as a virtue is a foreign concept in our society, but there is wisdom in God's own rhythm of work and rest. Jesus practiced sabbath among those who had turned it into a dismal thing, a day for murmuring and finger-wagging, and he reminded them of the day's true purpose: liberation - to heal, to feed, to rescue, to celebrate, to lavish and relish life abundant. With this audiobook, Buchanan reminds us of this and gives practical advice for restoring the sabbath in our lives.

Women were there. For centuries, discussions of early Christianity have focused on male leaders in the church. But there is ample evidence right in the New Testament that women were actively involved in ministry, at the frontier of the gospel mission, and as respected leaders. Nijay Gupta calls us to bring these women out of the shadows by shining light on their many inspiring contributions to the planting, growth, and health of the first Christian churches.

In his two decades working as a full-time artist and spiritual guide, Justin McRoberts has experienced first-hand the tension between "The Hustle" and "Self Care." In recent years, that conversation has turned to argument as people have suggested that one is more important than the other. But Justin disagrees entirely with such a one-sided approach. In this book, he uses humorous and poignant stories to help listeners discover the deep truths about us being laborers for/with Christ, empowered by the Spirit, as well as worshipers of God the Father.

We let them into our bodies, and they sabotage our peace.

American evangelical Christianity has lost its way. While the witness of the church before a watching world is diminished beyond recognition, congregations are torn apart over Donald Trump, Christian nationalism, racial injustice, sexual predation, disgraced leaders, and covered-up scandals. Left behind are millions of believers who counted on the church to be a place of belonging and hope. As greater and greater numbers of younger Americans bleed out from the church, even the most rooted evangelicals are wondering, “Can American Christianity survive?”

Ff we spend our lives trying to be “the strong one,” we become exhausted, burned-out, and disconnected from our truest selves. What if it were different? Could there be a different way to be strong? Could strength mean more than pushing on and pushing through pain, bearing every heavy burden on our own? What if, instead, true strength were more like the tide: soft and bold, fierce and gentle, moving together as one powerful force? In Strong like Water, author and trauma therapist Aundi Kolber offers a framework for true flourishing.

Mixed Feelings.
This book is incredibly well written. It is clearly a work of art on behalf of the author. I think I personally struggled with it because I was hoping for more practical information that I could put into practice in my life. What I got was well done, but not as useful as I had hoped.

A book on walking? oh, yes!
To be honest, initially I was skeptical when the book was handed to me. My pastor quoted from the book and I was intrigued and wanted to borrow it but I was puzzled how someone can write an entire book on the topic of walking. Mark Buchanan is a skillful wordsmith and has the ability to turn the simplest concept into the most profound. Having finished this book, I will approach walking very differently. My default is to hurry through life even when there is really no need for it. One of the main things this book has revealed to me is that God, most of the time, walks slowly. The trouble is that I often run away, or run ahead, and actually miss the beauty of walking, walking with Jesus.
this is a great book!

Life Changing
I’ve been studying Genesis for a Bible study and realized how much the word ‘walk’ and it’s cousin word in Hebrew ‘go’ are used in Abraham’s narrative. After listening to this audio book it makes the meaning of walking with God so much richer and adventurous than I once thought. Thank you Pastor Mark! God Speed!

Do not recommend
I am sorry, but I do not recommend this book. It comes across as an autobiography of an arrogant stereotypical white man. The significant amount of liberty the writer took with the intentions of Jesus and his disciples were just too much for me. And I am sorry again, but it came across as a quite boring read. It is a great topic and premise, though.
