About this listen

The fae abandoned this world to us. And the ones with power rule.

Gold. Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. Even me.

King Midas rescued me. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. I'm called his precious. His favored. I'm the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. To show how powerful he is. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. And even though I don't leave the confines of the palace, I'm safe.

Until war comes to the kingdom and a deal is struck.

Suddenly, my trust is broken. My love is challenged, and I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong. Because these bars I'm kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage.

But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I'd never left.

From bestselling author Raven Kennedy comes the first book in the BookTok hit Plated Prisoner series, perfect for fans of Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout. The myth of King Midas is reimagined in this compelling adult fantasy series that is as addictive as it is unexpected. With romance, intrigue, and danger, the gilded world of Orea will grip you from the very first word. Intended for mature listeners.

Newly recorded in duet-style narration by Lilly Drake and Anthony Palmini.

More than expected

King Midas. Female protagonist. It’s easy to assume this would be a typical paranormal romance book, sprinkled with too many over-detailed sex scenes. That is not the case here. Though of course there is some adult content, it is a very interesting story. It focuses less on the protagonist’s romantic interests and more on the unfolding of an epic tale. I really liked it.

Just getting started

I feel like I am just getting started with this series and I am excited to see it unfold. I am curious how the Fae are entwined in this story line and the magic. Onto book #2!

Soooooooo good!

It is so hard to find duet narration that isn’t just mobsters or billionaires giving 25% plot. I started this series years ago and took a break to let more books get released, but as soon as I saw this series was going duet audio (with Anthony Palmini!), I freaked out! I just wish the next books were coming out sooner! Ugh.

First audio book, I’m in love!

This is my “Roman Empire”. The Plates Prisoner Series by Raven Kennedy has been my faaaavorite for so long! This was the first audio book I’ve ever listened to and I was very pleased! Lily Drake voices the perfect Auren. Love love love!

3/4 Victim, 1/4 Forward Moving

The first 6 hrs were physical, mental, and emotional victim-ness, abuse by definition, such as imprisonment and grooming. The last 2 hrs hints finally picked up enough to show some strength and to entice one to read/audio the second book, which I will. Put the audio speed to 1.2 or 1.5 if you can to get through the first parts then enjoy the second.

Slow start, weak FMC, but when the story got moving, I was hooked!

Gild started out pretty slowly. Some people are going to make the argument that all world building is slow...I did not find Auren or Midas very likable in the first act.

Once the story got going, it was great, and the end of the book seemed to come too soon. I'm excited to dive straight into Glint!

slow moving and purposefully incomplete.

most series books have a full and complete story that can be newly continued like the Bridgerton series. this book, which really is chapter one, plots on purpose to force the purchase of the second chapter.

My Precious

This book was a slow burner for me. At first, I wasn’t so sure if I liked the direction of the story. It seemed so bleak. Mind you it didn’t end with a happy ending no a destination toward one. This book was more of a slavery book, a bird trapped in its cage. Is it not a cage if there are no bars to hold you in? One can still be trapped not matter how beautiful or dire one surroundings are. It’s still a good story line, something different, intriguing and mysterious. In to the next book of the series.

Very spicy start but good story follows.

Wasn’t prepared for the very spicy start but the story begins to play out and the end of the book is excellent. Looking forward to the next.
