About this listen
An Epic Clash of Faith and Reason Amid the Ravages of the Black Death
The spellbinding prequel to Terminal Warfare: Lady, Scientist, Lover, Spy in which the ancient world grapples with the collision of faith and reason in the shadow of a devastating pandemic. Delve into the enchanting world of the ancient Icelandic sagas at one of the landmark events in world history: the era of the Black Death which decimated Europe and has lessons for today and our collective future as the human race.
As the Black Death sweeps across 14th-century Europe, a mysterious dark rider appears on the glacial ridges of Icefjord, Greenland, during a rare solar eclipse. Terror intensifies when the ruthless plague begins to ravage the isolated community and outsiders offer ritual penance as a solution. Regenlief, daughter of Sigurd and Ingrid seeks out the wisdom of the forest healers and discovers a special herb that dispels the dreaded plague. The newcomers and their supporters accuse her of witchcraft and put on trial; can her strength of character prevail and prevent the village from descending into madness, or will fear and superstition consume them all?
Ghost of the Forgotten Snows is a tale of survival in the face of unspeakable darkness. Rich with the vivid historical detail and mythological elements of the Icelandic sagas, this gripping narrative will transport you to a world on the brink of collapse, where the battle for humanity's soul hangs in the balance.
Perfect for fans of Ken Follet's Kingsbridge novels, Bernard Cornwell's Grail Quest, Peter Gibbons' Viking Blood, and Blade, MK Roberts' Viking Saga, or books like Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose.

A hooded horseman rode up onto the glacial ledges that overlooked the village. The rider wore heavy gauntlets, filthy boots, and a black helmet which obscured the face. The steed’s hooves kicked up a cloud of dust and sent rock and ice tumbling along the cliff's edge.
The sight of this strange intruder sent a wave of dread through the onlookers, even those who had hoped that the astrological alignment would offer a reprieve from their troubles.
Anja seemed worried. “Sigurd, who is that? What are we looking at?”
Sigurd stroked his beard. “It appears to be some kind of Huldufólk, a hidden, unsettled spirit,” he explained…
