About this listen
The third and final book in the Amish of Summer Grove series, from New York Times and CBA best-selling novelist Cindy Woodsmall, brings an Old Order Amish young woman and an Englischer woman who were switched at birth full circle, as they decide where their futures will lie.
After several months living out in the world with her birth family, Ariana Brenneman is back living in the Old Amish community that she grew up in. The shock of discovering she and Skylar Nash were switched at birth has not worn off, but both young women are regaining their footing and trying to determine what lies ahead - the Amish life or an Englischer one? Ariana must also decide if Quill Schlabach will play a role in hers or not.

another good one
Cindy Woodsmall knows how to write a tear jerker and this one follows true to form.
I wouldn't call this book terribly exciting but it is heart warming in this final book in the trilogy.
What was most interesting to me is how the author brings to life some of the challenges the Amish might be encountering as they move forward in time. With all the technological innovations going on in the world how does a religion stay relevant with the world on fast forward and the religion seemingly stuck to beliefs hundreds of years old. I thought for a good part of this book that many of the Old Order Amish wouldn't like this book as it discusses changes that need to be made. But as the book wore on, and following the title 'Gathering of Threads' maybe the book is relevant to the times as I'm sure many Amish likely feel the church, the Amish way of life is so stuck in the past that structural changes need to be made to be of value for more of the people.

This is a great story, a must read.
This is the final story in the conclusion of the series. It is well written and very hard to put down. I recommend it to all who love beautiful romantic stories. It is the story of two women who were accidentally switched at birth who finally find their place in the world. In this story we read about the value of love and sacrifice quite a bit. We also read about parenting, what it means to be a parent to love without limit. We learn what it is to love someone for who they are not what who we think they should be or who we want them to be. In fact, that is what this whole series is about.

gathering threads
the beginning was tough to follow since the author tried to catch us up on the plot from the first book which turned out to be helpful as the plot was very involved. but as I caught onto the various storylines, it was difficult to stop listening to the story, as it was very enjoyable. the challenges of living Amish in the modern world.

This third book ties up all the loose ends of this series.
I enjoy the way this author, Cindy Woodsmall, fills in background and doesn't rush the story line. This is a wonderful series of a families search for love in all its diversity, always dividing tradition from truth.

Intellectually & Spiritually Challenging
Cindy Woodsmall’s characters are lifelike and well developed. You feel like you know them.
Her books have complex, interwoven plots that pull you in and don’t let go even till the very end of the third book in the series.
They contain some romance, but don’t make it the focus of the story.

Not an easy listen
Tough to listen to if you grew up in a legalistic childhood such as I did. Although our community strongly believed in the Bible, church doctrine was held up as equal to the Bible in practice: not in theology and would not have been a correct answer on a test question, but in practice church teaching was equal to the Bible. This book was not meant to entertain, but to make you think and challenge some of your thinking. Although it only confirmed a lot of things that I had already discovered in my own life, rather than give me new revelation, it did allow me to see that the Amish community was very much like the faith community that I experienced and the rules and the regulations and double standards. The most interesting belief that the Amish have is that if you leave their community that you are leaving your faith in God. Although they don't feel that no one outside the Amish faith can believe in God, they do seem to believe that if you are Amish and then choose to leave the Amish community that you are automatically turning your back on God and on your faith in God.

Im not Amish but...
This book hit very close to home. I cried often ...good tears! I used to live a fundamental lifestyle until the Lord opened my eyes. Such a great series! I also had my world turned upside down a year ago when my moms third child I never knew about found me. Life is good now. I loved this series!

Sting Nielsen is one of my favorite narrators!
I really enjoyed this story by Cindy Woodsmall. Sting Nielson's narrating will not disappoint. She makes this book come alive. Great story for any time of year. It's not a Christmas story per se.
