The Year of our Lord 1072

Sir Gabriel Dubois is a fierce and loyal knight, and when King William calls upon him to fight against the Saxon rebels, he doesn’t hesitate.

But after the battle, he encounters the conniving Lady Honorine, a woman determined to force him into a marriage by false accusations. If Gabriel cannot prove his innocence, he will be forced to marry her.

So, Gabriel enlists the help of his older brother Leon, who suggests a fake betrothal to his wife’s sister, Lady Eadwyn Hexteth.

The strong-willed and spirited Eadwyn agrees to play along but finds herself tested in ways she never imagined.

When Gabriel returns home accompanied by the King and Lady Honorine, she must continue to portray the facade of being Gabriel’s intended. But Lady Honorine seeks to prove that their betrothal is a sham and provokes Eadwyn at every opportunity.

But Eadwyn has a fiery disposition, and it leads her to do mischievous, and sometimes reckless, acts of retaliation, which puts her directly in trouble with Gabriel and swiftly ends up with her over his knee.

But even though her betrothal is only for show, she realises that she loves Gabriel, and when the King intervenes and orders them to actually marry, their lives change forever.

But Honorine cannot accept that Gabriel will never be hers and takes him captive, her selfish, indulgent nature seeking to take by force what she can never have.

Can his brothers find him and bring him home? And how will Eadwyn react when she finds out what has happened to her husband?
