About this listen

Dr. Emily Hartford is back in Frozen Lives, the next thrilling mystery from Jennifer Graeser Dornbush.

Chicago surgeon Emily Hartford has never quite shaken off the dust of her hometown in Michigan. She may be a professional success and have a princely boyfriend in the Windy City, but she can’t seem to let go of being “the coroner’s daughter” from Freeport.

Once again, she finds herself pulled back to her hometown when Jeremiah—the eleven-year-old son of her best friend, Jo—goes missing on the frigid shores of Lake Michigan.

To everyone’s relief, Jeremiah turns up days later, alive and unharmed. But tensions remain high, and suspicions of every sort continue to grow. Jeremiah’s account of his abduction doesn’t add up, and Emily worries about Jo’s unraveling marriage. Jeremiah’s recovery, it turns out, is not the end of their terrifying tale. It’s just the beginning …

For moving among them is a devious, malevolent force. Sowing panic while seeking to fulfill his own twisted needs, this wolf in sheep’s clothing leaves a trail of rack and ruin, heedless of the damage in his wake … and the bodies he leaves behind.

Emily solidifies her role as the coroner’s daughter when she puzzles out this madman’s chilling machinations. Risking everything dear to her, Emily is determined to go the icy distance and end his killing spree.

Excellent book

This is an excellent addition to the series. I really couldn’t but it done. It has the right balance of personal drama and the mystery drama. I really hope there are many more books in this series because I feel Emily has more than one mystery to solve. Can’t wait until the next one.

Almost...

I love the story of Emuly and the intricate relationships she has. Her friend Jo is not my favorite, and I find her boring. having a story with her as a huge part missed the mark for me.

Fantastic Story

Had me on the edge of my "seat" the entire time! I often caught myself talking back about the case and her personal life.

Why does she keep going back to Brandon!!

I love these books but I cannot for the life of me understand her connection with Brandon. It should have been over the first time. Glad he finally forced her to see the light!! Still a great series I can’t wait for the next one.

I cannot form’s enough words to describe what I all I love about this story. It ends on a cliff hangers. I don’t want to spoil anything for someone that hasn’t read it yet.

Wow!

IMHO this is the best book yet of this series! Although I was happy with the happy ending I was so disappointed when the book ended. Can’t wait for the next book!

Gripping addition to the series!

Frozen Lives by Jennifer Graeser Dornbush is another gripping addition to the series, and Dr. Emily Hartford once again proves she can’t resist diving headfirst into danger—whether it’s in her job or her personal life. As always, Emily finds herself way too involved for a doctor or medical examiner, but that’s what makes these stories so engaging!

This plot was a little far-fetched at times—her best friend’s son going missing, secrets unraveling, and the twisted villain lurking beneath it all—but it was interesting enough to keep me hooked. The tension surrounding Jeremiah’s disappearance and return felt real, and the ripple effects on Jo’s marriage added layers of drama that kept me invested.

And that ending—wow! It was a shocking, leave-you-hanging moment that has me anxiously awaiting the next book. While some moments stretched believability, the story’s pacing and Emily’s tenacity made it a thrilling ride. Fans of the series will love this latest installment, and newcomers will find plenty of suspense to sink their teeth into. Can’t wait to see where Emily’s adventures take her next!
