About this listen
One woman, who will be discussed in this text, had had to deal with her depression over being unable to bear children. One man had had to deal with a king who wanted him dead and had even tried to kill him. Three young men, which are being treated as one person in this text, had had to overcome the fear and depression that are involved with having a conflict with a very powerful king. One man had had to deal with his bad decision during a moment of fear. One woman had had to deal with the depressing circumstance of losing her husband. One man had had to deal with the depressing circumstance of being rejected by almost everyone.
So from all of those different situations that were experienced by some of the saints of God, many of the causes of very deep depression will be discussed. Then, one or more of the four biblical ways for overcoming those moments of depression will be discussed for each case.
But to everyone who reads this book, it must be pointed out that it is only offering a biblical solution for depression, rather than a medical solution. So as a simple but necessary disclaimer, no person currently on medication for depression should change his or her prescription based on anything in this book. This book is a Bible study, not a medical journal. The author is a Bible-educated person, not a doctor. So please remember that when reading the accounts that are discussed. But now having said that, the four ways that will be presented in this book did work for the people to be discussed, and they have worked for countless millions through the Ages.
Now there is one final note to be made about the organization of this text before concluding this Introduction. Something that the reader might find useful is boxes throughout that show the different passages that are being referenced at the times and in the places where they are being referenced. That way, he or she will not have to jump all over the place or get into or out of the scriptures to locate a particular reference. Hopefully that inclusion will help the reader in trying to understand the various events and to also quickly put them into their right context. So it is hoped that that addition will make this text easier to read and that the Lord will receive the praise, honor, and glory that He rightfully deserves.
