About this listen

Sheila Kogan was not your typical pilgrim! This sixty-something, Jewish-Catholic, grandmother and dance teacher takes us on an unforgettable trek across Spain. With her, we flirt with Richard outside the Cathedral in Leon, reunite a sandal with a dancing Spaniard, weep with Meg over the loss of her daughter, and get a sensuous massage from a tyrannical angel. Close-to-the-bone, funny as well as heart-rending, the stories in Found Along The Way invite us to experience the Camino de Santiago as well as to journey inward, where fear and doubt battle trust and faith. Loved the first person account. This is an exceptional journey of her heart and soul and body. She made me want to make the same journey.

I did not care for the narrator. She had a terrible time with pronouncing words that were from a language other than standard English. Example: a person in the Bible whose name is Job with a long o was pronounced as job as in employment. Also simple Spanish phrases like Buenos Dias came out with an -ish sound at the end. If you are going to use AI for narration, a human needs to check for correct pronunciation.

But the story was so good, I listened to it twice!

Fabulous true life experience

I really enjoyed following Sheila’s story and and personal/emotional journey. A human narrator would do her wonderful story far, far more justice than the AI voice. But I was really enjoying the content, and stuck it out. Glad I did.

Great listen despite the AI narration

I liked the mix of trail stories and spirituality. I am an atheist but appreciate the thoughtful insights and feeling La of the author about god and religion and what she struggled with. The book had real depth. I am not a fan on AI narration which is always a shame and I had to speed it up to 1.35 to avoid tediousness. Also it took a little while to get used to the book’s style of jumping back and forth along the Way depending on who she was talking about in that particular chapter. But that was nice too and overall it is one of the better Camino books.

Very good Camino story

Seems like a good book, but the terrible robotic virtual voice narration with mispronunciations made it distracting and tiresome to listen to. I have listened to other virtual voice books without a problem, but this was especially bad

This book is filled with mildly pleasant stories about a trek on the Camino. The book is not chronologically consistent and bounces back and forth in time, sometimes making it difficult to follow.
