Alec Reid
About this listen
Alec Reid’s ghosts of the 21st century seldom lurk in old houses or waft across chilly moors. His dark tales may breathe alongside the supernatural, but they take place in broad daylight, in our daily lives. Their themes include dead warriors resurrected via Bluetooth, Rumpelstiltskin in the suburbs, an algorithmic fear of ghosts, and the shattered dreams of immortality. The world they describe is the one you inhabit, but you would live in terror were you to recognize it for what it is.
Full cast of narrators includes: Emily Wilden, Katy Sobey, and John Telfer.

Great Narrators, Story Slowed at End
The short stories were gruesome and lovely. Just what I want in a horror novel. The novella dragged on an on. So great performance but a 4 for the endless novella.

Creative and Suspenseful Horror
Extremely creative stories that reflect current times; who would have thought the world today could be this terrifying? These stories definitely do not reflect the standard or vintage stories that we’re used to hearing. Instead, this is a collection of unique and original horror stories. Each one a bit spookier than the next. Twists and turns throughout that keep you engaged and guessing until the end. The last story seemed to drag a bit, but overall, the author did a good job with this. I enjoyed the descriptions used by the author to set the stage for each story. Great job painting each story with words.
The author, Alec Reid, definitely did a great job with dialog and presenting rich and realistic details. Each story flowed well and the plot for each story moved at a good steady pace with the plot twists expertly executed.
There were multiple individuals narrating the tales in this audiobook. The narration is done well, and each person narrating does a great job reading. I am not personally a fan of the audio effects as it tends to take away from the narrator, and at times, drowned out the narrator. It may have been better had I not been using headphones.
Overall, this was an interesting book that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys horror. I look forward to hearing more written by Alec Reid.
There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook. It was crisp and clear.
