About this listen
Stanley peered up into the shadows above the stage. There was a colorful blaze of fabric amidst the burgundy curtains and canvas backdrops. He moved closer, trying to get a better view from a different angle.
Faye McMullen was murdered in cold blood at Winneshiek Theater, and Mary O'Reilly and Police Chief Bradley Alden have to discover who done it before the murderer gets the chance to get rid of the prime witness...Mary O'Reilly.

Story
Dying is what changed Mary O'Reilly's life. Well, actually, coming back from the dead and having the ability to communicate with ghosts is really what did it. Now, a private investigator in rural Freeport, Illinois, Mary's trying to learn how to incorporate her experience as a Chicago cop and new-found talent into a real job. Her challenge is to solve the mysteries, get real evidence (a ghost's word just doesn't hold up in court), and be sure the folks in town, especially the handsome new police chief, don't think she's nuts.

Story
Detective Sean O'Reilly is called in to interrogate a young boy who is the only witness to a massacre during a gang war. The child's story is too far-fetched for most of the Chicago Police Force to believe - claims of an army of other-worldly creatures who attacked and dismembered the rival gangs. But Sean O'Reilly believes him, because he's seen them himself. An encounter he had as a boy in a dark forest in Ireland did not just give him nightmares, but changed his entire life.

Mary floated across the room, shaking her hands in frustration. Finally, she turned back to Mike. “When will the men in my life realize that no one is responsible for watching over me?” she asked sadly. “I am a grown woman. I am a former police officer. I am not some hot-house flower that can’t handle my own life and my own safety.” Victoria sighed loudly and rolled her eyes.

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

Story
Of the great figure in 20th-century American history perhaps none is more complex and controversial than Malcolm X. Constantly rewriting his own story, he became a criminal, a minister, a leader, and an icon, all before being felled by assassins' bullets at age 39. Through his tireless work and countless speeches he empowered hundreds of thousands of black Americans to create better lives and stronger communities while establishing the template for the self-actualized, independent African American man.

Story
A biting satire about a young man's isolated upbringing and the race trial that sends him to the Supreme Court, Paul Beatty's The Sellout showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. It challenges the sacred tenets of the United States Constitution, urban life, the civil rights movement, the father-son relationship, and the holy grail of racial equality: the black Chinese restaurant.

Entertaining, Fun Paranormal Mystery
Any additional comments?
Absolutely delightful, entertaining and fun! I laughed out loud throughout the comic relief sections of this fun story! The author addresses one issue common to narcissistic individuals in three different scenarios. I truly enjoyed the effective layering of one common theme. This is the fourth book in the series and I had to read it in one day. The professional narration of the audio version was very well done. I love the immersion feature, where I can switch back and forth from the e-book and the audio book. Off to purchase book five in the series.....

Solid Mary
As usual a solid O'Reilly story from Terri Reid. I hope you have read the first three Mary O'Reilly. If you have not that is ok. After reading the 3 prior books, it gets redundant to give glowing reviews.
No swearing, or overt sexual content, gore, or action. A good clean story.

Would you consider the audio edition of Final Call: A Mary O'Reilly Paranormal Mystery - Book Four to be better than the print version?
I really enjoy this series and in this one changes in the relationship between them is funny and exciting to see were it goes. Bradley has work cut out for him. I really hope I do not have to wait long for the next one. This one left me wanting more.

Terrible narration this time.
I have enjoyed the previous books in this series and I can't figure out why the narrator changed her style. There were long pauses before completing a sentence with "he said" or "she said" It was a very annoying distraction throughout the whole book. If I were a member, I would have returned this book..
