About this listen
The girls were still asleep when she dressed and reached for her Bible to have her own personal devotions. Usually, she had put it away, but that night when the girls were finished looking at the bookmark, she had laid it on the little nightstand near her bed.
She held the Bible in her hand momentarily. The early morning sun was streaming through the window, flooding the big room with light. Everyone else was still asleep. In the room next to them even Joan, who was an early riser, had not yet stirred. Felicia could hear no sound, save that of their slow, regular breathing.
A prayer of thanksgiving for the girls who accepted Christ the night before went heavenward.
Then Felicia opened her Bible. For a long minute, she stared at it. Her bookmark!
It was gone!
