About this listen
New enemies. Unlikely allies. A neon city in the Deadlands that never sleeps.
Halek Cain has mysteries to solve, people to rescue, and a vendetta to carry out.
But he must fix his Reaper augmentations before they kill him. He needs raw materials from Gronic, a technical specialist on Roxo III, and time to put himself right before the Union comes for him.
Everything seems like it’s going to work out...until he learns Elise is in trouble.
If Cain doesn’t get to her first, everything that happened on Dreadmax will have been for nothing.
The Last Reaper will encounter assassins, Union special operators, and a mysterious rival from his past. The odds are overwhelming, and the enemies are mounting.
But when all is said and done, each of them will learn that you must always fear the Reaper.

Story
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

Surprise! Better than the first book!
So, normally in sequels authors make changes I don't like. I liked EVERYTHING in this book. It was a SOLID continuation of The Last Reaper. Pace was a little faster in this installment, which suits me just fine.
I absolutely am starting to like X-37. If AI was a smart ass, this is what it would sound like. Ray Porter nails it again for the Reaper series.
The main character STAYED in character! Usually, readers start to see a drift. Not in this series, which is why the tension ratchets upwards. The main character is a "killer with a code" who stubbornly hangs on to who he is, which drives so much of this story.
Action was a fun ride! Loved it. Pre-ordered the 3rd installment in Audible.
I can't wait!

A great follow-up. Great Series
I went through the first book in 1 day, so this book had a lot to live up to. It absolutely lived up to the hype as I went through it in a day also. This series has the potential to be in my top 5. What can you say about Ray Porter that hasn't been said a million times, he is the best and shows it once again. The series has a flow to it that just works.
