About this listen
Orphaned in a brutal attack as a young child, Calista grew up raised by hunters. In her twenty-one years, she's learned how to take down almost any kind of supernatural creature that steps outside of the agreed-upon rules, but there's only one kind of creature she hates: the ones who destroyed her family.
As Alpha of the biggest wolf pack in the area, Vaughan can't wait any longer for his mate. He'll have to take a chosen mate to keep his pack safe, but all his good intentions are blown apart when he comes face-to-face with the young hunter and realizes that fate has other plans.
Tropes: Fated Mates, Chosen Family, Mild Enemies/Rivals to Lovers
The book contains explicit violence and sexual scenes. Recommended for listeners over the age of 18.

Story
Trista has been on the run for years, attempting to escape a past that isn’t willing to let her go. Life taught her that she can rely only on herself for survival, and in turn, it’s made her cold, calculating, manipulative, and just a little vindictive. She knows they’re out there searching for her. She knows someone will always be right behind her, but a life spent running and hiding is exhausting. A life spent fighting and outsmarting her pursuers takes a toll.

Fun shifter romance with side of suspense
I'm a huge fan of shifter romances and this one ticked all my boxes. Fated mates. Strong alpha. Personal growth. Hot "relations". Action. Suspense. Thankfully no other woman drama. There were a few twists I didn't see coming, which I loved.
I thought the narration was great. The narrators' voices were well-cast.
This is evidently book 1 of a series, but while there are teasers for the next book, no big cliffhangers here.

What a RIDE
Where to start the series is by far one of the best that I’ve heard in a long time and that’s saying a lot because I go through about a book every two days on audible you fall in love with all the characters with their individuality and their pursuit of justice Melodies world building is well thought out and easy to understand within the story you discover an adventure and overflowing paranormal masterpiece. The story kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I couldn’t wait to continue to hear the book to see what was gonna happen. I was left in awe the easy way the story flowed into my heart. I lost myself in the world with all the twist and turns the layers of fantastic creativity, I had so many theories while listening to this book and what a curveball at the end had my head spinning. I love how this book gave you the answers didn’t leave you hanging or in a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for the next Book in this series!

If you love the show Supernatural, and you also love romance... this is the book for you!
This is a new author for me as well as new narrators. Both Andi Eloise and Scott Rose did a fantastic job voicing Calli and Vaughn.
Scott might be my new narrator crush. His voice has that gravely alpha voice I love, especially for shifter romance!
Now I just need the next book to see what happens with his sister!!

excellent story!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
callista is a hunter and Vaughan is a werewolf and they find they are mates. (since Vaughan is getting older he is in a contract with another pack for a mating alliance)
I enjoyed the mystery about the attacks and the mystery of callistas family.
I loved all the characters and look forward to Savannahs story.
the voice actors were wonderful!!! this was my first time I believe hearing them.

I loved everything about this one!
What a great story! I loved listening to every second of this! The world building is wonderful. While this is a paranormal world it has different elements from what I am used to in this type of story. The characters are interesting! I love this idea of the Calista having this hidden past. She is smart, quick and has this crazy job. Vaughan is a different matter. Alpha who needs a mate to help keep the pack under control. He is controlling, makes pack first and is unsure what his future holds.
This story has a lot of paranormal characters. From demons to sasquatch and wolves to
I love all the different types that show up in here.
Woo hoo that lead in into the next. I cant wait!!

Enemies to lovers, fated mates, shifter romance
I liked this shifter story with enemies to lovers and fated mates. I listened via audiobook gifted to me by the author. The only thing that could have made this better would have been if it wasn’t so easy to guess what was going to happen. This occurred multiple times throughout the story.
