About this listen
Intrigue and excitement follow the main character through a decade of life—from the United States Military Academy at West Point to the Vietnam War, and into the world of dangerous army intelligence operations in Turkey, Germany, and Shemya, Alaska.
The in-depth story of Richard Farnsworth’s tours in the Vietnam War and leadership of other secret missions intertwine with steamy love affairs in Massachusetts and Washington; his situation presents the juxtaposition of warfare and a life of love and luxury back home.
Richard’s life after the war is an unpredictable journey that carries the reader through the sensual pleasures of loving relationships while bearing the anguish of post-war life in the mid-1970s.

Great flashback to the 70s
Growing up in the 70s it was fun to hear about the life and times of Richard Farnsworth and recognizing places and experiences he had along the way. Part love story part historical fiction kept me entertained until the very end . I prefer audiobooks and this narrator did not disappoint! Looking forward to a sequel to see how he handles his next war adventures.

Good story and great historical details
For any listeners of a certain age this will bring back a lot of memories and it is really interesting to hear many details of life in the 60s woven into the adventures of a special intelligence military guy. I was really torn about which woman I wanted him to end up with and I liked both of the main female characters as voiced by the reader. I think this was written from a personal perspective and was a good story, globe-trotting adventure and gave me a lot of insight into army life. This kept me listening and each different quest was its own story that took me from military and Vietnam years to Washington DC to Farnsworth's maybe retirement in the Florida Keys. It was a little disjointed at first until I realized it was flipping back and forth in time.

The secret side affects of war
I found this book so interesting because of the detail of the history of the Vietnam war and all the accounts after. It also demonstrated the affects on relationships when our military members returned home. Definitely worth the read!
