About this listen
Shade has been left all but shattered.
Travelling to the Ice Kingdom, along with her bodyguard Dylan - who continues to be bound to her - to where the holder of her magic dwells. The War of Faerie amplifies and her only chance to save it will be to resist the enchantments of the Ice King, one of the ancient rulers of Faerie. But he has his own agenda and will do anything to stop her from making it to the Summer Kingdom, with her family, to claim back her throne.
These Ancients of Faerie don't want her to succeed, and the wards between the land of Faerie and the mortal world are blurring rapidly. Shade must face treacheries in every crevice of the land, even among the human mortals and trusted allies, before all is lost.

Change is inevitable
Nothing is getting simpler for Shade. Questions of friend or foe are still in play, never knowing who is out for only themselves.
Danger and adventure…her whole world is changed. It’s good to see Shade come into her own and be who she never knew she was supposed to be.
Multifaceted characters abound in this epic adventure. Not easy to choose who to love or dislike. Always someone new and surprising.
The narrator did a winded job with the story.
Looking forward to the next book.

A story that draw you in
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It was a great fantasy story, and it really draws you in. It is the third book of this series, and each book has gotten better.
What other book might you compare Ever Winter to and why?
Shatter me series by tehereah Mafi. While they are different type of fantasy/a I in story line, they have a lot of the same plot points. The both have a young girl who starts out unsure, and grow stronger as the story progresses, both have a bit of betrayal, enemy to friends, love triangle, along with fighting a progressive evil.
What does Nancy Peterson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He timing is perfect. Often when a character is meant to gasp or sound exasperated with a long sigh, you can't always tell from the narration. Macy Peterson really brings the characters to life. She puts a lot of feeling behind the interactions and you get a better idea of the emotions or moods based on how she plays it. It gives you a better grip on the characters peraonalities too.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It isn't terribly long, so it was manageable to listing to in a strait shot.
Any additional comments?
This book started out on a bit of a down trodden and depressing feeling, and while you can feel those undertones throughout the story, as it progresses the characters become bolder in personality and stronger. There is a bit of a love triangle but it isn't very angsty. They're are also some new discoveries and twist in the story that in some cases seemed predictable, but it was still great to watch it play out. It has such a variation of personalities that it makes for entertaining interactions between those personalities. I was given my copy for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

Good story with interesting characters
This is the third book in the series. It is definitely better to start with book one to understand all that is going on.
The beginning was a bit slow and on the sad side. The story slowly picks up and wraps up with a cliffhanger.
The narrator did a pretty good job bringing the story to life.
I'm looking forward to the continuation of the story on the next book.

Get lost in the dark world of the Sidhe
I love books like this. Based on the Sidhe. This is the third book in the Dark Faerie Tales series. I suppose reading the first ones would have helped. I was a bit lost till I figured everything out. So I recommend reading the others first. Wonderful world and mythology to just get lost in and enjoy, though it's a bit dark and angsty. Full of suspense, action and of course magic. Characters that feel real and I quickly fell in love with. Brilliant narration that added so much emotion to the story. I look forward to reading the others.

Enjoyable.... but read in order
Any additional comments?
Entertaining and interesting.
I took me a bit to get into the story, but that's my fault not having read the previous books. In spite of this I did find this book enjoyable, well written and entertaining.
According to Audible this is the 3rd book in the series, according to the author's website there are 4 books before this one in order to have the complete backstory of this series. Many times you can read books from a series out of order and it doesn't really matter. That is not the case here, it is better to start with the first book. There are many things that are referred to that happened in the previous books.
The story itself is interesting and engaging. Wide range of great characters. Shade has lost her magic but that is not going to stop her from trying to accomplish her goal. Shade, Dylan and Soap are trying to get her powers back, and stop the Winter King. Shade is trying to reclaim her rightful place in faerie. The Queen of the Summer Court..
There is a love triangle.
Nancy Peterson did a good job with the narration. Pleasant voice, clear smooth narration. Character voices were good, but there is not much difference between her male and female characters.

Thrilling story
This third book in the series leaves off where book two ended. Traumatized both physically and emotionally, Shade is struggling to recover from her ordeal in the Unseelie Court. Her waring emotions and the loss of her magic is making things even harder for her, but she needs get back on top of everything if she is going to save both faerie and the mortal world from the evil within the Unseelie Court. This story is an emotional roller coaster, from despair, to hope, to betrayal and there is some love mixed in there too. I enjoyed the development of Shade’s relationships with both Dylan and Soap, her emotional growth in this book is wonderful. She has grown in depth and is much less whiny. There is lots of action, betrayal, suspense, intrigue, revelations and some twists in this book. The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life and keeping the accents consistent from one book to the next. I especially liked her portrayal of Corb, she really made him feel cold. This is an enjoyable story and I look forward to seeing what the next book will bring.
