 Lange ist es her, dass aus der EWG die EG wurde und aus dieser dann die Europäische Union. Wie setzt sie sich zusammen, wie funktioniert das Monstrum eigentlich? Demokratisch natürlich: Abgeordnete werden gewählt und stimmen ab, nachdem sie ausreichend diskutieren konnten. Worüber sie abstimmen, das steht auf der Tagesordnung, und deren jeweiliges Zustandekommen ist nicht durch das betont taktische Agieren von Lobbyisten bestimmt.

Gesetzesvorlagen können wohl in letzter Minute geändert werden, und manchmal entgeht der Aufmerksamkeit auch etwas, das darin steht und erhebliche Auswirkungen haben mag. Schon ist durchgewinkt, was besser aufgehalten worden wäre, manchmal haben die Beauftragten auch anderes zu tun. Doch wenn es wichtig wird, sind sie zur Stelle und nehmen ihre Aufgabe nach Kräften wahr. Sonst würde ihr Image leiden und sie hätten ihre Chance verspielt.

Manche aber fallen im großen Getriebe gar nicht weiter auf, sie bekleiden ihr Pöstchen und genießen sämtliche Vorteile, die eine Mitgliedschaft im EU-Parlament mit sich bringt.
