About this listen
Ethan's Way is the story of two cultures, that of Christian Porter, a billionaire country boy from Georgia, and of Lorena Abruzzi, a struggling journalist, from Chicago, who was trying to survive in New York City. When serendipity brought them together, at a small New York City deli, the clash of cultures took shape, as Christian struggled to cope with his wealth and fame and Lori struggled to achieve her life-long goal of writing a best-selling novel. Along the way, on this bumpy road of life, they found love. More importantly, they found what each needed in their life - family.

A deeply personal work about identity and belonging in a nation coming apart at the seams, Homeland Elegies blends fact and fiction to tell an epic story of longing and dispossession in the world that 9/11 made. Join Greg Laurie as he takes a cross-country drive in his 1968 Highland Green Ford Mustang 390 GT through the canyons of Malibu, the alleys of Hollywood, the wide and open roads of the Midwest, the streets of New York, as he traces the wooly geography of actor Steve McQueen's life, relationships, career, and spiritual journey. In the 1960s, McQueen was, according to box office receipts, the biggest movie star of his generation and one of the coolest men to ever walk the planet.

If Only...
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
What a soft love story this is... One that would never likely happen in the real world, but that is one of the reasons why we read fiction, right? I was truly taken by this story and liked the characters well enough. The adversities of some of the characters were maybe treated a little lightly giving more emphasis on the positive outcomes, but that is still fine with me, Sometimes you just need to listen to a happily ever after kind of story... Everyone's rich, beautiful, kind, loved. If only...
The writing is truly pleasant and Jennifer Gilmour did a wonderful job with the narration using southern drawls when called for without overdoing it.
I'll definitely be on the lookout for more books from this author.

Finding Its Way
SPOILER ALERT - This was a story where the author told us a lot of what was happening instead of showing us. The two main characters told us that they were falling in love but gave us little reason why that would happen. Ethan, the titular character, was set up to be the moral center of the story but I couldn't see what made him especially noble. He dealt with his fatal illness with dignity but that was all. I also felt like some of the plot was hard to believe: Christian being a billionaire and having no money concerns at all, Lori feeling at home with all of his friends and family and being instantly accepted by them, no real character flaws anywhere. Most of the characters were flat and a little hard to differentiate from each other.
In spite of this, the story was interesting enough to compel me through to the end. With a little more character development I would have given it four stars.
