About this listen
Echo in Time delivers on "the possibility of an equally thrilling sequel" (Kirkus Reviews) to Erasing Time.
After being pulled 400 years into the future, twins Taylor and Sheridan found some refuge from the government of Traventon, which used the dangerous Time Strainer to yank the girls from the past. Yet the threat of the dangerous technology still looms. Taylor and an ally, Joseph, are selected to go on a mission to destroy the time machine and weapon. But their actions before they do may have major consequences for the future and the past.
Action-packed and romantic, this futuristic sequel to Erasing Time is perfect for fans of dystopian and sci-fi novels such as The Maze Runner by James Dashner, Across the Universe by Beth Revis, and Matched by Ally Condie.

Story
With a name like Isabelle Valentine, one would think I was destined to find true love and believe in the ridiculous notion of soul mates. Don’t get me wrong: I’m all about love. I even own an inn with my sister where each room is named after our favorite romantic couples. But soul mates? It seems highly implausible there is that one person, your person, meant only for you. My sister, of course, would tell me I’m dead wrong and that the very inn we own calls to such lovers. So, what if she did find her own unlikely happily ever after here with one of the most famous men alive?

I, Charlotte Valentine, am mostly of sound mind. Typically, I make really good choices. I went to college, never did drugs...I even brush and floss every day. That’s not to say I don’t make poor decisions - believe me, I do. They always seem to involve men - everything from gluing my eye shut to falling in love with my boss. Did I mention he was famous? Oh, Drake Foster, you beautiful creature. My sister told me not to accept the position as his personal assistant. Apparently, she thinks it’s emotionally unhealthy for me to work for the object of my desire. What does she know?

A very enjoyable read.
My second read from author C.J. Hill. I was given a copy of Echo in Time, the second book in this series and wanted to read this one first so I went out & bought it. I'm glad I did. A very enjoyable read.
This, the second book in the series continues the story from the first book but, other than the main characters, is very different, still another very enjoyable read.

Every bit as incredible as Erasing Time!
I had my doubts about the sequel to Erasing Time. Where could she possibly go from the end of that book? Everything was tied up tightly and resolved.
Wow. Was I ever wrong! An amazing sequel!
CJ Hill (aka Janette Rallison) is a talented and humorous Young Adult novelist. She has such twists and turns in her story and has done such a good job of world-building that she is free to develop her characters.
I love her sense of humor! It is so rare to find a novelist who can write humor, that when you find one, you treasure her.
I rarely give 5 stars, but this book is something special!

Erasing Time sequel
4.5 stars for this sequel to Erasing Time. Echo in Time picks up just a couple of months after Erasing Time. Twins Sheridan and Taylor along with Joseph have safely made it another city, but now Taylor and Joseph are selected to go back to Traventon to destroy the time machine. Yes, they're going back to the city they just escaped from.
Of course things don't go as smoothly as they hoped and it doesn't help that Joseph again has a secret and it changes EVERYTHING! You can't mess with time and expect everything else to stay the same. Things interconnect and you don't know what the consequences will be.
There's a lot more action in this sequel because we already know the characters and also because of what Joseph does. I didn't understand the title until something happened in the book. No spoilers here, you'll have to read/listen to it to find out. Even with all the action the author's sense of humor still comes through.
This book has the same narrator so if you listened to the first book you won't have to get used to a new narrator. I think he does a great job, especially since there are so many characters in the book and several of the them are female.

Even better than the first
I won a copy of the audio book on the author's blog and I wanted to thank her by hurrying to get this review out. I picked up the first book in the series, Erasing Time, and listened to it first. I liked that one but I liked this one even more.
The first book focused on Sheridan and Echo. This time around it's Taylor and Echo's turn. The plot revolves around an attempt to destroy the time machine for good. Things go wrong when an attempt to fix something in the past causes unforeseen consequences in the present. Have these people never read a time travel book? Of course it does! Taylor has to race against the clock to save Sheridan from the villain of the first book and she does it with Echo's help. Despite her best intentions, Taylor finds herself attracted to Echo but no worries, this is not one of those dreaded love triangles.
The character growth in this book is stronger than in the first one and both Taylor and Echo have further to go than Sheridan and Echo did in the first one. There are more complications and a ton of action but you still feel like you're going on a journey with the characters and that makes for a better book than the first one in the series. I enjoyed the ride.
I give this one an enthusiastic five stars and I'm sorry there are no more books in the series.

Entertaining Story about Difficult Choices
I confess I knowingly came to this story unprepared, as I haven't read (or listened to) Erasing Time, which is the first book in the series. That did make it a little trickier for me to get invested right away...added to the fact that the narration initially feels a little too casual for a dramatic story like this one.
However, both the story and the narration won me over in time. :) (Reference to the audiobook's title intended!)
I've read several books by Janette Rallison (AKA C.J. Hill), and I'm a big fan of her My Fair Godmother series. While this particular book didn't end up being a favorite, I found it enjoyable and engaging once I became more familiar with the main characters and once the plot really took off with a mission to make things right...which led to a lot of things going quite wrong.
I really appreciate the fact that this story offered some surprises for me (which might have been partly due to me being unfamiliar with book one, but I bet those who are familiar with the series appreciate knowing what happens to the characters after Erasing Time). It's interesting to see how Taylor, Sheridan, and the team adapt to unexpected twists and consequences. When you mess with the time stream, all sorts of mayhem can ensue!
As for the narration, it came across a little flippant and perhaps disengaged at times...but I'm not sure if that might simply be a result of how I heard the narrator's main accent. Ultimately, though, different characters stand out in the voices he performs, and I was impressed with the range of accents and tones the narrator could pull off!
While it wasn't always easy visualizing what was happening, especially at the beginning (being unfamiliar with book one), the story and its characters pulled me in as they faced a range of challenges and discovered love in the midst of danger and change. This is an entertaining futuristic story about the difficult choices that come with power, intelligence, and unalterable circumstances.
*With thanks to the author for providing me with a complimentary audiobook download. This review is my honest opinion.*

The Butterfly Effect
Generally I look at series to see if the stories hang on their own. In this case, although you would enjoy a good adventure if just reading book two, I'd strongly recommend enjoying these tales sequentially. Book one posits a means of time travel involving converting matter to energy (not quite "Beam me up, Scotty," but I'll bet scientists might argue the principles are the same). In book two, an attempt to "fix" an action in the past creates a change in the timeline which has major repercussions. As in book one, the narration by Alexander Doddy is a bonus (despite his British accent for the American characters--quickly forgotten in the rapid-moving plot and delightful storytelling).

Great book
I didn’t care a lot for the narrator. He had a good voice but and several of his character voices were good but I didn’t care for the timing of his reading. I liked the book though. This was another great story for C J Hill. It is fun to hear of the inventions in the future and to see how the language changes. There is a bit of a romantic element in addition to the danger and main story line.
