Story
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Great series
Even after the fourth book, I am still engaged in the story. The variety of characters and fantastic voice talent give nice color to a fast moving military science fiction book that sports both space and land battles.

Excellent story, even better narrator!
The world is amazing! Love the characters and tech. But it really is Luke Daniels reading abilities that keep me coming back for more!

The most human book in the series.
What an interesting take on the current state of world affairs. You'd think humanity would have gotten past all our petty differences. Since we barely survived being exterminated. But no, we're far too stupid to simply get out of our own way.
We know the Xaros will return and we don't have enough people to man the ships we need to defend the Earth from the second wave. So when we create proccies, to man those ships and save our bacon. Humanity freaks out and falls into old ways that nearly destroyed us the first time.
The Breitenfeld is our only hope. But she's caught between a genocide on earth and an alien fleet on its way to feed on every earlthing, proccie or not. Can a divided ship save Earth?
Fox and Daniels do it again. Telling an entertaining and thought provoking story. Asking the tough question, "No one asks to be born, so why do we care so much about our differences."

The series seams to be one large story broken down into many books and this one will leave you wanting more.

Excellent series
One thing I find amazing is the voice actor who manages to sound like 10 or 12 different speakers including some aliens!! Excellent book and series try it!
