About this listen

Dr. Demento gets warped in outer space! Ever Since Stardrek became one of his most requested recordings of 1976, outer space has been one of Dr. Demento's favorite places. The Doctor's syndicated radio program launched the career of "Weird Al" Yankovic, whose The Saga Begins has become a favorite among Star Wars aficionados. Now Dr. Demento presents his first audio program made especially for science-fiction fans like you with classics like "Star Trekkin" and "Do The Picard" along with several sought-after items now available for the first time anywhere.

Tracks:
"Beam Me Up, Scotty": Terry McGovern
"Star Trekkin'": The Firm
"The Saga Begins": "Weird Al" Yankovic
"Stardrek": Bobby Pickett & Peter Ferrara
"Do the Picard": Rusty Humphries & The Bone-Heads
"Carmen Miranda's Ghost": Leslie Fish
"They're Here": Boots Walker
"Twinkle Twinkle Little Earth": Leonard Nimoy

Editorial reviews

These 12 kitschy and undeniably catchy sci-fi cuts spring from the quirky, offbeat mind of Dr. Demento, the legendary musician and DJ known for his idiosyncratic tastes, and features contributions from iconic novelty musician "Weird" Al Yankcovic and Mr. Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy.

These tracks, almost half of which are Star Trek inspired, play like a radio transmission from a faraway galaxy with their space-age keyboards and echoing vocals, and are held together by Demento’s fan-like enthusiasm, cheeky playfulness, and undeniable ear for melody.

Very weird and demented but what else would you expect from Weird Al and Dr. Demento?

This isn't actually a book, but an album of crazy space music. I heard it on a friend's tape player years ago and I am thrilled to finally have a copy of my own. Carmen Miranda's Ghost is my favorite.

Listened to it years ago & I finally found a copy!
