About this listen

So this story takes place in a alternate time from our own timeline.

Alex believed his whole life that he was a normal human, until one random day, he discovers he has powers. In an effort to use his newfound abilities, he joins the US military. Alex soon finds that the US has its own secrets. When Alex got his first deployment, things seemed to be going well, until it all went wrong, and an unknown enemy attacked other countries. The US reacted quickly, and they, along with some other countries, won the battle, but a new race of humans and a new species rose up from the ashes.

Alex, part this new species called Strikers, seeks purpose and retribution against the aggressors and those who betrayed him. Along the way, he encounters new people, both his species and human. He struggles to trust again as he finds new friends, comrades, and even love. But not all friends can be trusted. Alex must contend with this fact, even as he is faced with ancient species reborn, old grudges renewed, and an eternal war brought back to life.

Can Alex defeat his enemies and protect his people, or will this be the downfall of the Striker?

I might have missed a decent story here by not reading the whole book, but I could not go any further.

this story sounds to have potential, but the delivery was monotone and choppy at the wrong spots. Ward could use a little work with narration, but it is hard to deliver with this story.

a few point outs; O 1100 hours isn't a thing.. saying O 800 hours is because of the zero in front..

next back story or leading into the story needs work.

character description of looks or description of a scene to better help draw a picture (example Alex entered the bank and proceeded to the front desk which an older lady with far too much perfume sat behind. Alex stated "hello, I have an appointment at 12" . the receptionist slowly looked up at Alex with interest asking "what is your name?" "my name is Alex Zamora" Alex replied. the receptionist adjusted her glasses looking at her computer screen. "ah yes, please have a seat over there" she now gestured to a waiting area with several new looking leather chairs.)

scene to scene kinda seems jumpy with a few moments of short descriptions of them.

just listening to this one chapter makes me want to write my own version and send it to Zamora to hopefully help.

I am not trying to be rude with this review just want to help what sounds like a young or beginning writer to what I think would make it better.

chapter 1 then stopped
