About this listen
THE GANG IS BACK AND GOING TO LAS VEGAS!
After one of their hired hackers got machine-gunned in New York City, it fell to the men and women at America’s most overlooked military intelligence contracting firm to figure out whodunit and, more importantly, why. Then someone tried killing the company’s CEO in his own front yard. Some things just can’t be forgiven, so a discreet war will rage in the shadows where geopolitics and international crime do business. And when the other players in the game are all heading to Nevada to try their luck, it’s time for the Professor and Athenaeum, Inc. to roll the dice again.
From a full-auto assassination in the Bronx to sniping in the streets of Sin City, Dan Kemp takes you on another wild ride through a hidden world of dirty deeds done... expensively.

Engaging plot, great story pace!
Great follow up to book one! Anticipating book three!!! Dan strike a great balance in character developing, obscure history, technical details, and just plain fun gunfights!!

Has the feel of a Tom Clancy Story, with a touch of Quentin Tarantino movie.
Like Door #3, this one is a really slow burn, but once he gets going, Dan delivers his action and intrigue really well! He also has a well-developed, dry humor that is present from start to finish. Overall this was a great book to listen to!

Gets your attention and Keeps it
I read the first book in the Athenaeum out of friendship. This is definitely not my normal genre (trashy romance novels if you please), but I waited for the second because it is actually a good series. “Doubling Down” kept me entertained and gave me more than one good chuckle. I enjoyed the action sequences because they were not over the top and overly dramatic. It has the right blend of relatability, humor, military references, and flow to keep it from being too wordy and boring.

Totally Entertaining
I was captivated by both the narrator and the storyline. The characters are believable and meld with the story flawlessly. I cannot recommend this series enough.

A great and realistic story
This second offering is an excellent tale that will leave anyone with a military history with a sense of déjà vu. Though my time was well before this author's, the similarities to our lives and missions while in harness and the difficulties we all suffered after our time on the line come through as truth. I enjoyed this tale and look forward to the third book in this series.
