About this listen
Marlowe Hapworth is found dead in his locked study, killed by an unknown assailant. This is a case for the Great Detective, Madame Vastra. Rick Bellamy, bare-knuckle boxer, has the life drawn out of him by a figure dressed as an undertaker. This angers Strax the Sontaran. The Carnival of Curiosities, a collection of bizarre and fascinating sideshows and performers. This is where Jenny Flint looks for answers.
How are these things connected? And what does Orestes Milton, rich industrialist, have to do with it all? As the Doctor and Clara joint the hunt for the truth they find themselves thrust into a world where nothing and no one is what they seem....
Justin Richards' thrilling new novel stars the Twelfth Doctor, as played by Peter Capaldi in the hit BBC TV series, and also features his friends Madame Vastra, Strax, and Jenny - the Paternoster Gang. It is read by Dan Starkey, who plays Strax in Doctor Who. Reading produced by Neil Gardner. Sound design by Simon Hunt. Executive producer: Michael Stevens.

When the Doctor and Donna visit London's Technology Museum for a glimpse into the future, things don't go to plan. The most brilliant IT brain in the country can't use her computer. More worrying, the exhibits are attacking the visitors, while outside, people seem to be losing control of the technology that runs their lives. Thumbs up
Besides obviously being able to do Strax's Voice is able to do Peter's version of the doctor so well to as well as his previous and reincarnations particularly one and two although he did not do Jenny or madam as well he gave character to the unknown characters of the story line beyond that of the storyline you to connect and felt empathy with them

More 12th Doctor novels please.
The plot was interesting and I enjoyed the inclusion of the paternoster gang. What I enjoyed the most was the fact that the author captured the essence of the 12th Doctor perfectly, and, the narrator was superb.

Not as good as an episode.Good Strax Stuff.
What made the experience of listening to Doctor Who: Silhouette: A 12th Doctor Novel the most enjoyable?
Narrator Dan Starkey does a pretty decent Doctor (crucial to any Doctor Who audio book) and reprises his character of Strax from the show in the books best moments. Was hoping for a bit more Jenny and Madame Vastra.

Excellent Narrator, Great Story
The story here is very good, bringing in three of the most memorable recurring characters from the show and using them to their best potential.
Narration was so good I think I enjoyed the book more because I listened than I would have just reading it. Dan nails Strax, of course, since he voices him on the show, but also does a great job giving the series regulars and new characters distinctive voices. Of the 5 Who books I've listened to, this one has had the most realistic characterization vocally, and that surprises me since Tennant, Briggs, and Anthony Head were narrators on the others (and all did well, don't misunderstand.)
This sets a very high bar for other 12th Doctor books to measure up to, and I would listen to another narrated by Dan just based on this performance.

I can totally see this as an episode!
Any additional comments?
Dan did a great job with the voices and is an amazing narrator. The story was a great mystery with a touch of creepy and lots of humor, which is something I expect in Doctor Who. I had to replay a few scenes because I couldn't hear the dialogue over my own laughter. Only problem I have with the story is Milton's cloud to make everyone kill each other kinda reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson's satellite in "Kingsman: The Secret Service" but that's just a nitpick and pretty much a coincidence.

This was a fantastic story about 12 and Clara! The fact that the narrator place tracks in the show brought a whole new level of involvement in to the story. Fantastic character adaptations and plan on listening to again
