Natalia Bates is the only daughter of a rich family. Unlike her brothers who were raised with care, she’s always felt like she doesn’t belong with her family. She still has nightmares from the earthquake that killed her family seventeen years ago and she clouds her trauma with her sunshine mask.

After being embarrassed in front of other guests at a party, Natalia goes to the rooftop where she meets a handsome man (Alec Knox). They talk and she feels connected with him as he is the only person who has ever seemed to understand her. Things get heated between the two of them.

He is gone when she wakes up the next morning and she feels hurt.

Surprisingly, they meet again. He is her new professor for the semester and isn’t the same man she met weeks ago. He is rude, grumpy, and hard on her.

She swears she hates him, but for some reason, she cannot stop thinking about him.

Haunted by the memory of his best friend's death in Afghanistan and how he failed to save him, Alec Knox quits his job as a field surgeon. He opened his clinic to help patients and works as a professor in a private medical college.

As expected, she isn’t happy with him after he abandoned her the morning after they shared an intimate night. And he is even more affected by the situation than she is. He utterly hates how bubbly she is and how his heart flutters whenever he is around her. Things become even more tense and he can’t deny how attracted he is to her.

The semester ends and they part ways after he refuses to have aby real relationship with her.

Then, a natural disaster strikes.
