About this listen
A Cole McGinnis Mystery
Sequel to Dirty Secret
For ex-cop turned private investigator Cole McGinnis, each day brings a new challenge. Too bad most of them involve pain and death. Claudia, his office manager and surrogate mother, is still recovering from a gunshot, and Cole's closeted boyfriend, Kim Jae-Min, suddenly finds his teenaged sister dumped in his lap. Meanwhile, Cole has his own sibling problems-most notably, a mysterious half brother from Japan whom his older brother, Mike, is determined they welcome with open arms.
As if his own personal dramas weren't enough, Cole is approached by Madame Sun, a fortune-teller whose clients have been dying at an alarming rate. Convinced someone is after her customers, she wants the matter investigated, but the police think she's imagining things. Hoping to put Sun's mind at ease, Cole takes the case and finds himself plunged into a Gordian knot of lies and betrayal where no one is who they are supposed to be and Death seems to be the only card in Madame Sun's deck.

Story
There are eight million stories in the City of Angels but only one man can stumble upon the body of a former client while being chased by a pair of Dobermans and a deranged psycho dressed as a sheep. That man is Cole McGinnis. Since his last life-threatening case years ago, McGinnis has married the love of his life, Jae-Min Kim, consulted for the LAPD, and investigated cases as a private detective for hire. Yet nothing could have prepared him for the shocking discovery of a dead, grandmotherly woman at his feet and the cascade of murders that follows.

Story
Jake Moore's world fits too tightly around him. Every penny he makes as a welder goes to care for his dying father, an abusive, controlling man who's the only family Jake has left. Because of a promise to his dead mother, Jake resists his desire for other men, but it leaves him consumed by darkness. It takes all of Dallas Yates's imagination to see the possibilities in the fatigued art deco building on WeHo's outskirts, but what seals the deal is a shy smile from the handsome metal worker across the street.

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Kade has seven days left to live...unless I do something about it. I am one of the best assassins around, after all. But...I’m not sure I exactly care what happens to Kade. He’s rude, only cares about himself and his casino, and did I mention he doesn’t know a single thing about video games? Okay, okay. Maybe that’s not enough of a reason to watch him dash headlong into danger while I kick back and enjoy the show.

Excellent story. Excellent narration.
Some very emotional moments that Rhys Ford pens beautifully and Greg Tremblay narrates with passion. This book had everything I look for in a great story, and it is the reason I added audiobooks to my entertainment budget.

The narrtor ROCKED this one out!
I dare you, I double dog dare you, I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU to find someone who is not obsessed with this audiobook. This audiobook makes all other audiobooks want to crawl into a hole and cower. All hail Greg Tremblay, master of the Cole McGinnis narration, and Rhys Ford for giving him such a fabulous written, nuanced script.
I'm suuuuuper choosy about my audiobooks. I listen to a ton of them and I have very particular tastes.
I need my audiobooks to feel natural and I NEED a wide range of voices for each of the different characters. Greg Tremblay did a seriously masterful job with this book. It was like listening to a movie featuring a dozen different actors. Greg must have play dough for vocal chords because he managed to make each character sound perfect and unique. This book now makes my favorite audiobook list, up there with the Adrien English series (Fatal Shadows) and books narrated by Holter Graham and Bahni Turpin.
I mentioned this before, but a huge portion of the reason that the narrator was able to shine was because Rhys Ford really pulled out all the stops with this one. Not only was I kind of able to follow along with the Korean names for once (yay!), but I was totally taken with the plot. This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made it hot... GOD it was awesome. The mystery was great and the chemistry between the MCs was even better. The tension, the love, the emotions between Cole and Jae left me feeling raw and vulnerable. I was so into the story that I felt like I personally was in the thick of it.
And these poor men... holy crap do they get put through hell. One person after another gets shot or hurt. I swear, Cole's life is a huge tangled mess of pain.
But it is also SO funny. So funny. I alternated between laughing and crying and just smiling manically to myself on my commute to and from work, listening to this book.
If you are a fan of audiobooks, mysteries, Asians, M/M, hell, even just ROMANCE, you have to try this series. It just keeps getting better and better.

My love for this book cannot be expressed in words
Any additional comments?
Rhys Ford. Greg Tremblay. Best combination ever. I just re-listened to this for the thousandth time and it continues to be one of my favorites. What can I say. Greg does wonderful job narrating, bringing to life one of the most awesome couples, Cole and Jae. Plus we get the introduction of Cole's hot Japanese brother, who sounds like a whole other person even to my uncultured ear--the wonders of Greg Tremblay never cease to amaze. Mostly what I love about this book is the way Cole and Jae's relationship really blossoms, and instead of being pulled apart by all the hurt they manage to keep sight of each other. Excuse me while I continue on my listening spree to the next book.

Another winner! More tears!
What made the experience of listening to Dirty Laundry the most enjoyable?
The narrator! Knowing or reading the story first, I had the characters pictured in my head, and as I have said in the last 2 audios, Greg nailed it again!
What other book might you compare Dirty Laundry to and why?
The first two! and Rhy's other series, Sinners Gin. Excellent writing, description of characters and Korean culture.
What about Greg Tremblay’s performance did you like?
His voices of the characters are perfect. Truly a performance and not a read a long!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed and cried. Rhys is good at that. I think she attempts to see if she can reduce her readers to tears.... But, also funny as hell!
Any additional comments?
Worth every bit of the money! will stalk the narrator for the next one in the series!

IN love with these guys
Not only am I completely head over heels for both of these guys but also the way they love each other. Even though some of it es emotional and difficult and yes, there were tears its so beautifully written. And the supporting cast is just as amazing as the the MCs. The mystery cases are always so intricate and woven so flawlessly through out the rest of the story line that once you hit play there's no stopping

Definitely Dirty, and Sexy!
Would you consider the audio edition of Dirty Laundry to be better than the print version?
Haven't read it but I can't imagine either version NOT being good.
What other book might you compare Dirty Laundry to and why?
The Sinner's Gin series, same author, she has a way with writing murder and mayhem.
Have you listened to any of Greg Tremblay’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to all the Cole McGinnis books to date, Tremblay has narrated them all and done a fantastic job of it. I love how he can voice the Asian culture.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There was a scene toward the end between Cole and Jae that literally made my toes curl. Very sexy and emotional!
Any additional comments?
Can you say shit storm? Clusterfuck? The world’s largest magnet for trouble? Allow me to introduce you to Cole McGinnis. This PI has a pinchet for danger and a good day for him, well that would be one where he wasn’t shot at, or no one died. While Cole spends his days trying to solve the cases that land on his desk and stay out of trouble, he spends the rest of his time trying to convince his closeted boyfriend Jae-Min that he loves him and keep Jae out of harm’s way as well. It would probably be easier to lasso a feral cat!
Cole’s most recent case is for one Madame Sun, a fortune teller whose clients are dropping like flies. While Cole weaves his way in and out of imminent danger, tries to get Jae to stand still long enough for a sloppy wet kiss and attempts to keep his partner and best friend Bobby off of his newly acquired little brother, he has to deal with a killer that has no problem what so ever taking out a child in order to prove a point. Cole may have bitten off more than even he can chew with this one.
Every instalment in this series gets more intense and gritty, for lack of a better word, dirty. The attention to detail is so precise, some little crumb that fell five minutes into the book becomes a monstrosity toward the end and will just throw you for a loop. The action and suspense is literally nonstop from start to finish, and the body count is insane. Any book by Rhys Ford is going to be good, but with this series in particular I find myself losing time I get so engrossed in the story.
The characters are so perfectly flawed with monsters, murderers and generally psychotic killers blending into the line up like flowers on wall paper. The attention to detail within the storylines adds depth and the way Ford can spin a tale, keep you guessing until the last second is so intense, I almost feel drained after listening to one of her books. Almost like coming down off a high, or a good drunk!
Ford has been paired with some amazing narrators for her stories as well, this series is helmed by the wondrous talents of Greg Tremblay. Steeped in Asian culture and personalities, Tremblay nails every subtle nuance and inflection right down to the unique tone of Jae-Min. His voice for Cole is slightly monotone, but it’s so perfectly Cole that I want to chuckle. When you get to hear the most noticeable strain or emotion in either of them is when they are together, or when Cole is worrying about Jae-Min. And I love that, that Tremblay can really nail the intense emotions these two share only with each other. There is a scene toward the end of the book, Christ almighty, I’m a straight woman and that scene made MY toes curl!
This is a must read for folks that love a good mystery, crime dramas, murder, mayhem, a sexy PI that attracts trouble like dryer sheet attracts lint, and an edgy Asian man that is afraid to sit still for more than five minutes, because in that five minutes he will have to admit to himself that he’s fallen in love with said sexy PI.

Fantastic!
It's a toss up as it if this book/series is so good because of the author or the narrator. I'm going through go with the idea the two combined do it. I'm binging on the whole series now and I'll probably be at a loss when I'm done. Cole is relatable. His thoughts and words are funny and make sense to me with how I think. Jae is sweet and a nice balance for Cole. I love the extended characters and missed Mike's presence in this book. I can't say enough about the series and how perfect Greg Tremblay is as the voice of Cole and co.
