About this listen

Strange. Different. Weird. All of these are words that could describe this tale about Aubrey Thorne, a very heavy set man who has been rejected by women throughout his life, falls desperately in love with a woman who cannot possibly love him back, and then encounters the one woman he really did love. Or does he? Geoff “Skinny” Taylor is Aubrey’s best friend who loves nothing better than exchanging acidic, humorous barbs with Aubrey about his weight. Can he save Aubrey from the past, the present, and the future loves that have entangled him? Who or what is Sereynity? Where does she come from? How did she end up at the “Grim Reapers” funeral home, or did she? If her goal is to win Aubrey, will she succeed in the face of opposition from Carolyn, a true war hero? So many questions, but this time Allan Thames may only leave you with more questions than when you started. In a direct departure from any of his other works, Allan introduces a type of story here that may be unheard of and unwritten until now. In “DESTINY: SIREN’S CALL”, Allan manages to include fiction, comedy routines, historical references (How did Amelia Earhart disappear?), Greek Tragedy, Shakespeare, diary entries and even several recipes that you may, or may not want to try. When you get to the end with questions, then refer back to the beginning and see if you find any answers. If you do not like this out of the ordinary tale that ends the “DESTINY TRILOGY”, you may be more comfortable with Allan’s other stories: “Destiny-When the Stars Were Young and the World Was New”; “Destiny, Too-Sere”, Nailed, “This is the Livin’, The Thames Family Travelogue” or “Your Ever Loving Soldier Boy-Korean War Love Letters”. All can be found on Amazon. “My purpose in life,” Allan says, “is to inspire, enlighten, entertain, challenge and comfort people with my written and spoken word.” Whether he does that with “DESTINY: SIREN’S CALL” remains to be seen.
