Lange kursierte das Bild vom Dorfpfarrer Eduard Mörike, der lediglich verträumte Lyrik schrieb. Doch das wird Mörike und seinem Stil nicht gerecht. So verbirgt sich in der märchenhaften Hülle von Der Schatz eine abgründige Satire auf den württembergischen Hof - gelesen von Hans Paetsch.
