About this listen

When a NASA satellite discovers an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory, a victory with profound implications for NASA policy and the impending presidential election. To verify the authenticity of the find, the White House calls upon the skills of intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic scholar Michael Tolland, Rachel travels to the Arctic and uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery, a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. But before she can warn the President, Rachel and Michael are ambushed by a deadly team of assassins. Fleeing for their lives across a desolate and lethal landscape, their only hope for survival is to discover who is behind this masterful plot. The truth, they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all.©2001 Dan Brown (P)2004 Simon & Schuster Inc. AUDIOWORKS is an imprint of Simon & Schuster Audio Division, Simon & Schuster Inc. Critic reviews

"Brown moves into new territory with his latest. It's an excellent thriller: a big yet believable story unfolding at breakneck pace, with convincing settings and just the right blend of likable and hateful characters. He's also done his research, folding in sophisticated scientific and military details that make his plot far more fulfilling than the norm." (Publishers Weekly)
"A dazzling high-tech adventure...Brown proves once again that he is among the most intelligent and dynamic of authors in the thriller genre." (Library Journal)
"This is pretty exciting stuff...and Brown certainly does have a knack for spinning a suspenseful yarn." (Booklist)

I loved this book. It was fast paced and kept me coming back for more.

A WINNER

This book would probably be better if I hadn?t read other Dan Brown books. If you?ve read the DaVinci Code and Angles and Demons you can figure out the antagonist after about 20 pages. Even still, the book kept my interest.

Typical Dan Brown

Either use a mute button or use basic editing skills to reduce the amount of disgusting wet mouth noises Produced by the narrator. Nothing breaks the silence worse than hearing weird lip smacking noises in between chapters. It Completely brings you out of the experience

the narrator should stop chewing toffee

If you're looking for The DaVinci Code, this isn't it! But it stands well on it's own. After listening to The DaVinci Code, I couldn't wait to read more, and at first I was disappointed. There are no links, no similarities in this book to that one except that the characters are definately on the run. You have to put The DaVinci Code down to enjoy this book, but once you have it is a great writing all on it's own. Enjoy.

It doesn't get any better. 16 hours, and I thought I knew what was going to happen, and I was wrong every time! Incredible story and very well told. Action, action, action!

Spellbinding

I love the book and enjoy getting swept up in his stories. But the audio is so crisp and too close to the narrators mouth. i can literally hear the saliva in the corner of his mouth, and every time he swallows.

love Dan Brown and all his books!

The narrator has a terrible habit of making mouth noises that sound like he’s trying to clear his mouth of a recently chewed peanut. Faster listen speed helps. If you can get through the tongue hockey, the story is great.

Gross Mouth Noises

Not the best Dan brown but still pretty entertaining. I recommend to anyone looking for a good mystery/thriller.

Any additional comments?

Interesting with some surprises along the way. A very easy book to listen to; the story moves right along and keeps the interest, although at a time or 2 the coincidences that happen seem a little far fetched. Very enjoyable.

Intrigue at the highest level
