About this listen

Whilst organising a mock murder hunt for the village fete hosted by Sir George and Lady Stubbs, a feeling of dread settles on the famous crime novelist Adriane Oliver. Call it instinct, but it's a feeling she just can't explain...or get away from.

In desperation she summons her old friend, Hercule Poirot - and her instincts are soon proved correct when the "pretend" murder victim is discovered playing the scene for real, a rope wrapped tightly around her neck.

But it's the great detective who first discovers that in murder hunts, whether mock or real, everyone is playing a part.

What listeners say about Dead Man's Folly

Highly rated for:

The Reviews Focus On The Story And Mystery Aspects Of The Agatha Christie Audiobook Narrated By David Suchet. Many Praise The Intriguing And Unexpected Twists In The Plot, The Compelling Storyline, And The Engaging Characters Typical Of Christie's Novels. However, Some Find The Mystery Itself Uninteresting Or The Plot Too Convoluted. There Are Also Criticisms Of Outdated Perspectives Reflected In The Book. While Suchet's Narration Is Widely Lauded, A Few Reviewers Find Issue With Certain Character Voices. Overall, The Audiobook Seems To Deliver A Classic Christie Mystery Experience, Though With A Storyline That Doesn't Rank Among Her Strongest Works For Some Listeners.

Great story

Always so delighted when the narration is as great as the story. If you haven't heard any Agatha Chritie stories, you will love them.

Great story told by a great narrator

I enjoyed this Christie novel - it was fun and unexpected and kept me guessing. David Suchet is a wonderful narrator.

David Suchet is wonderful!

I have loved Agatha Christie’s stories since I was a little girl. I think David Suchet has played Hercule Perot so well. It was wonderful to hear him read this book and play out the characters.

Brilliant

David Suchet is remarkable and adroit. Each and every one of his characterizations are brilliant!

Suchet does an awesome job

The plot is convoluted but hearing Suchet voicing the different characters it is like watching it on TV.

Suchet excellent as usual, but too many characters to wade through.

Great performance, not the most compelling Christie

David Suchet is the definitive Poirot, so full marks there; the mystery itself is not very interesting, unfortunately.

Christie and Suchet - Jolly Well Done

Any additional comments?

I wouldn't rate this as one of my favorite Poirot adventures but David Suchet brought the characters to life with such flair that I chuckled repeatedly over the variety of personalities he created with Christi's talent. It was a jolly listen.

A Favorite!

This is one of my favorite Poirot mysteries —it keeps you guessing up until the very end. David Suchet does an excellent job of narrating, although some of his female voices are a bit over the top. Overall a wonderful audiobook. Highly recommend.
