Amazing story from an incredible voice
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would absolutely recommend Dead Dog to a friend. The story is gripping, gritty & incredibly funny. Michael Hacker's narration brings this story to life in ways that I can't hear anyone else narrating it. He actually becomes Max.
What other book might you compare Dead Dog to and why?
The performance is reminiscent of Mystic River read by Scott Brick. The vocal cadence & timber reminds me of Bricks performance. The story, not so much but just the performance.
Which character – as performed by Michael Hacker – was your favorite?
I gotta say Max is my favorite character. Just badass & doesn't take any crap from anybody.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely.
Any additional comments?
If you like your stories gritty with a sense of humor then I highly recommend this book. The accents aren't over the top, the production is top notch & it's about a man & his dead dog named Gator. Whats not to like?!

Enjoyable read
Would you listen to Dead Dog again? Why?
I would not listen to it again but I would recommend it. The story was told well enough that I would not need to have another reading to remember it.
What did you like best about this story?
This isn't my typical story genre but it came highly recommended. The story moved at a good pace and kept me interested the entire time. I also enjoyed the location and the description of the terrain and creatures. That brought a well rounded feel to the story.
Have you listened to any of Michael Hacker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
My first Mr. Hacker performance and I will be looking for more. His style brings a lot of depth to the characters and really pulls you into the story. Quite often a reader can make or break a book. Mr. Hacker makes this book for me.

Outstanding
Would you consider the audio edition of Dead Dog to be better than the print version?
Yes. I could never read any book as well as this audio book was read.
What other book might you compare Dead Dog to and why?
The descriptions through out the story reminds me of listening to Will Patton reading a James Lee Burke story.
What does Michael Hacker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Feelings. You are part of each character.
Any additional comments?
Foul language is constantly used and is part of the story for the characters. If off color language is acceptable to you then this book will be in your all time top ten list.
