About this listen
Travel writer Charlene Andre jumps on an assignment to visit Hungary soon after the fall of the Iron Curtain …her marriage. Budapest! That most fabled of cities… but is it safe? War threatens along the border. The government is in chaos. Charlene throws her fate to the wind and makes the journey.
“Goodbye,” says Charlene, at first to her philandering husband and then to herself, her old self, as she opens up to a new world, new adventures, new romance.
Without realizing it, Charlene finds purpose and discovers her own voice, strength and independence. Not only is she writing about life in exotic locations, she’s living it. Inspired by true events.

a detailed look into life in Hungary after the fall of communism
in Dawned on the Danube we follow Charlene the travel agent from a troubled marriage, to Hungary, where she pursues her dream of writing.
Charlene arrives in Hungary just after the fall of the iron curtain, when the ways of communism still have a hold on the people's psyche. Its a confusing time for the Hungarians and for Charlene.
Charlene shows us Budapest in a very real way as she experiences the wonders and the heartaches of the Hungarian people. Along the way she finds herself, and finds out what love is truly about.
Uma Incrocci does an incredible job as she brings each character to life with her performance. A GREAT LISTEN!

Romance at its best
This is quite an enjoyable listen. It is a very romantic story, and i don't mean just the main character's love affair, but the whole story.....the appreciation of the cultures, the descriptions of the scenery, of the people, and every experience. The author's true love of Budapest shines through in each chapter of this engaging story. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel a new appreciation and belief in the power of new experiences.
