A.B. Simpson
About this listen
A.B. Simpson, the founder of an Evangelical Protestant denomination, the Christian and Missionary Alliance, remains a popular author among all Christian denominations. His book Danger Lines in the Deeper Life explores some of the conflicts that Christians encounter in trying to maintain a spiritual life, with reference to the book of Judges. Unlike in his usual inspirational writing, Simpson here points out the flaws of the institutional church and the compromises it reaches with worldly challenges.
Museum Audiobooks strives to present audiobook versions of authentic, unabridged historical texts from prior eras which contain a variety of points of view. Story
Canadian preacher and theologian A.B. Simpson devotes these 10 chapters to the significance of the cross and resurrection of Christ. The cross of Christ has not only reached the status of the ultimate symbol of martyrdom but also carries our own liberation from sin. Simpson takes this a couple of steps further and expands on the presence of the cross in everything, both earthly and divine, and how its mark defines our greater destiny.

To have found God and still to pursue Him is a paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too-easily-satisfied religious person, but justified in happy experience by the children of the burning heart. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux stated this holy paradox in a musical four-line poem.

Who is Satan? Is he real? How did he become the devil? What is he doing now, and how does he work? What is his ultimate end? This fascinating book describes what God reveals about the archenemy of God and of all believers. Using the Bible, Arthur W. Pink lays out, in an engaging and approachable way, who Satan is, and the “gospel” he uses in his many attempts to confuse and confound the ongoing work of our Lord. This short book is especially relevant to our day, as what Pink saw in “the bud” is now in full bloom and producing much evil fruit.

Story
Many people believe in God and believe that God is everywhere, but they have yet to experience his presence. What did it mean for Moses to encounter God at the burning bush? How did it change his life and his perception of God? What is keeping you from experiencing his presence in your life? It was in that burning bush experience that Moses began to understand and appreciate the sacredness of worship. Through this book, Tozer teaches how proper worship has to be equal to the one we are worshiping, so if we are worshiping God, we must do it on his terms.

Powerful and Timely
I am blown away at how current and deep this is. I have recently discovered AB Simpsons writings and am grateful how clear and spirit filled are his insights. This is not a long book, a little over two hours; and discusses the lives of Deborah, Samson, Gideon and Ruth amongst others from the book of Judges. He highlights and integrates the stories of their lives to current patterns to both follow and avoid. Near the end he connects what he has said to the state of the modern church. It is right on in my opinion.
I especially loved his insights on Gideon.
