About this listen
What do you do when you find yourself stuck:
East of the Rock…
As Phoenix, Teddy is the reigning Queen of Drag Star, bringing the spark that sets the competition ablaze. However, Teddy’s tired of hiding behind his drag corsets. He’s ready to live his truth and build a committed relationship like his parents and best friends have. Revealing his secret could make it all happen or destroy everything he’s worked so hard for.
West of the Hard Place…
The VA dealt Gregory a crappy hand. All he wants is what he deserves so his life can gain some semblance of normal: a service dog to keep him safe from seizures and fair compensation for his service-connected brain injuries. Maybe then he’ll finally be able to find the one thing he desires most…Love.
Trauma brings Gregory and Teddy together. Catastrophe binds them in a fight for survival. The struggle is real and the possibilities are endless but only if each has what it takes to help the other heal.
Is their fast and fragile relationship strong enough to bring all the damage under control?

I want more
I want the next draft of the story with more… everything. These characters have important stories to tell. The book tries to do a lot of things. Characters and topics are handled well, but I wish there was twice as much book, so there was more time to spend on each topic.
What is here is good. I just found myself wanting more depth and detail.
I can tell this is a new author. I look forward to seeing how she grows in her craft.
This is a “clean” story and good to offer or recommend to someone as an intro to these topics. A good sensitivity primer.
Narration is good. John Solo is always solid.

Loved it
I really enjoyed this listen. Although it’s part of a series it can be read as a standalone. Having said that, I am going to go back and listen to the first two books of this series.
I only started with this one because I was given a code for this book in a group that I belong to.
Not only did I love this story but I loved John Solo’s performance as usual. It was well worth the listen.

impactful and informative
I quickly fell for these two and became invested in their journey. I empathized with both men and was pulling for Teddy/Destiny to have her authentic life begin. I liked that Gregory and River became a team. I was not ready for the huge twists!!! Omg!! I loved Destiny's parents and their support. I liked that this included the counseling and education for gender reassignment. Informative and impactful. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did an exceptional job with individual voices and brought the characters and story to life.
