About this listen

There are many things that go bump in the night, and I am one of them.

As a vampyr who was born to fulfill a prophecy, my life was planned before I was created. I obeyed every rule, and I became the perfect vampyr, but one night changed everything.

Rejected by the man who was destined for me, who was supposed to love me forever, I do the only thing I can. I flee into the night, nursing my broken heart.

Being a rejected mate corrupts the soul, however, and in this game of Courts and Kings, nobody wins. Nobody except the monsters in the shadows. The monsters that save me, welcome me, and make me one of them.

Welcome to the Court of Nightmares, where all your wicked dreams come true.

The story was probably fine, but I couldn’t get past the male narration to finish it. Half the time I didn’t know which of the SEVEN MMC was talking and his female voice was like nails on a chalkboard. Lastly, his accents were all over the place. At the beginning, one was said to have had an Irish or Scottish lilt, but then he’d go full Australian when voicing him further along. I had to stop and could not finish.

Male Narration Unbearable

Need more male narrators. One person cannot narrate 7 men without massive confusion. Love Tor Thom but I was constantly lost when his part was up.

The amount of mates the FMC had.

Not one but 7 men yes. I enjoyed this book I needed to take notes on characters at times because it there were a lot of them but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I love it

love the story over all but the male narrator is not it...its supposed to be an Irish accent for reve but it goes from Irish to Scottish to Australian then American. like damn reve was such a great character wish he was consistent with his character..

the story is great but....

Honestly the spice was fantastic in this. However, I am not particularly fond of Human- animal in animal form spice scenes. I know it's PERSONAL preference and no judgement here it's all made up so I can see the appeal but it is just not for me. I loved the plot and the different characters. The story moved along nicely and there was plenty of spice and I loved that. Narration had room for improvement like others said 7 different male character voices had got to be really hard to keep track of and do them all justice. That said I wasn't annoyed (surprisingly) but I did notice it and had to go back to be sure I was following along correctly.

Tw: Human- animal (in animal form) spicy scenes.

I really liked the plot I just didn't like how fast it went through. Two years passed in just a few chapters and I think a lot more experience and depth could have been added to the storyline instead of skipping ahead two years. The female narrator did both genders well but the male narrator seemed only comfortable with the deep male voice. His female narration voice was too soft and childish. It took away from the strong female lead. I also wasn't sure if he was trying to pull off Scottish or a Peaky Blinders character half the time. Overall, it was a really good story and I loved the backstory that went into each character. The ending had good closure.

Good but Storyline and Narration Needs Work

honestly, I just wanted more. this shouldn't have been a stand alone. the plot had so much depth and I wish they utilized it.

I would have rated it higher but unfortunately, the male narrator honestly kinda killed the book. and not in a good way. the woman who narrated should have just done the entire thing better because she nailed their voices and accents. the male narrator, was terrible. specifically, with Reeves. the man is supposed to have an Irish accent but somehow his internal dialogue is without an accent...? that's not how that works. ALSO, dude couldn't even keep it up the entire time (harsh pun intended). he slipped on the accent so much, from like British to Australian so times unrecognizable. he's just bad.

despite being left unsatisfied because I wanted so much more to it, I would have rated this much higher had she done all the narration by herself. the author could have also saved herself a ton of money I'm sure lol

I did enjoy the characters, and the plot that was seemingly in the room with us, was also good.

had such potential, kinda flopped.

overall .. 3.8
