About this listen
Now a Hallmark Original Movie
From the screenwriter of the Netflix Original viral hit, A Christmas Prince, comes another heartwarming holiday story about a beautiful Grinch who’s determined to get her dream job even if it means spending a week at a Christmas Camp where she discovers an unexpected love.
Haley Hanson’s idea of the perfect Christmas is escaping to the Caribbean to work so she can avoid all the traditional Christmas distractions. Over the years, she’s sacrificed her personal life to climb the corporate ladder at a prestigious Boston advertising agency. Now she just needs to land a coveted Christmas toy company account to make partner. But first, her boss, Larry, thinks she needs a holiday attitude adjustment, so he ships her off to a Christmas Camp at Holly Peak Inn to help her find her Christmas spirit.
Arriving at the charming mountainside inn, Haley meets the owner’s handsome son, Jeff, and feels an instant spark, but resists the attraction, refusing to be distracted from her goal of doing all the required Christmas tasks as fast as possible so she can get back to work. At first, Haley struggles with all the traditional Christmas Camp activities. It’s not until she finally allows herself to slow down, live in the moment, and let Christmas back into her heart, that she begins to grow closer to Jeff. But when he finds out Haley’s come up with a plan to help his dad save the struggling inn while he’s been trying to convince his dad to sell it, their relationship takes a serious holiday hit. Now it will take the magic of the season to bring these two hearts together.

Story
While promoting her next novel, a Christmas love story, author Riley Reynolds is caught off guard when she’s asked during a live national television interview how she can write about romance when she still hasn’t found “the one” herself. Scrambling for an answer, she quickly answers that she has had great love in her past and that love inspired her novels. Little does she know that this one offhanded remark will turn her world upside down. Three of her ex-boyfriends see the interview, and each, believing she’s talking about him, shows up for her Christmas Camp book event.

Camp for a week in December
This was a fun story. The characters were real and believable as was the situation. The author created pictures I could see in my head complete with the lovable dog, Max. I think the most touching scenes were with Haley and Gail. I loved seeing their relationship change each of them. This story made me think about my own family traditions from the past and new ones I can add now. I was left wondering if there is a recipe for the cookies with cream cheese frosting and crushed candy canes (I listened to the book, did not read it.) I do hope this author writes more novels, this was such an easy story to listen to and even with my 8 year old in the room. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this is to be released as a movie in December 2018!

Good not great
I bought this in the romance section. There is zero romance in this book except the anticipation of the heroin and hero to get together. Overall a solid story with a few caveats. 1. I really liked Tom's idea for his Tyler Toys pitch, so I was highly anticipating Haley's pitch, which ultimately was weak as heck, but I liked how it played out. 2. These people at Christmas camp must REALLY be deprived of Christmas activities to find everything so awe inspiring. they really didn't do anything I think most family's dont do every year. 3. if the cookies and hot cocoa were so "world famous" as they kept exclaiming them to be then where are the revenues from these products? World famous is a bold statement, that's "Little Debbie" or "hostess" famous. and I think that was meant to be a genuin statement rather than a facetious comment. I
loved the main character, she's semi-believable but the lack of romance really sucked. Good read for next Christmas if you missed it this year.

A MUST listen
Thou this is very Christmasy the message is great for any that have hectic lives with no time for yourself. I always try to listen to a lot of Christmas romances during the season & will try new authors as this one was for me. The story resonated with me from the beginning but very differently. This is one of the most amazing books I’ve listened to because of the feelings of all the characters & issues they were facing & how the story of Christmas Camp made each character feel & me. I truly recommend this. It’s a very different romance than I usually read, it’s very G rated but I encourage those that like spicy romances to listen also. It also brought the spirit of Christmas back to me like I used to feel when I had a kid home. Narration was very good also.
