About this listen

Leander, Lord Charrington has a problem. Raised to be a charming diplomat, women fall in love with him.

He, however, seeks a marriage of convenience with a sensible woman with whom he can live on honest terms.

The impoverished widow, Judith Rossiter, Angel Bride of poet Sebastian Rossiter, seems ideal. Still dressing in black, she remains devoted to her dead husband, and she has children to provide for.

Judith Rossiter thanks heaven for the earl's offered escape from disaster. Though her story is not what the earl believes, the terms of his agreement—to not fall in love with him—seem simple enough. Or so she believes on her wedding day . . .

Contains mature themes.

I’m simply amazed that decent stories like this are narrated by incompetent readers.
This woman’s reading is abominable. It’s a good thing this novel is included in the audible plus section. I’d be looking for my money back.

An interesting story

A lovely story along the lines of Cinderella, but instead of a stepmother and step sisters there is a first husband and his brother. The 'prince' is burdened by his own disfunctional family.

I've liked every book in the series so far but I think of the 3 this is my favorite romance. The first 2 books had more indepth background stories but the FMCs were too much... and the romance was lacking until the very end. This book, however, allowed us to see the couple interact constantly. Because of that they were able toresolve and conflict or misunderstanding immediately. They also both were quick to admit when they were wrong and equally quick to forgive. Through this back and forth you can feel them slowly fall in love. There was no grudge or confusion left to fest through a multitude of chapters and that felt more like real life. So while the mysteries were not as starling they were interesting enough to hold our attention.
Good narrator.

Very Heartwarming

Both Leander and Judith are looking for true partnership. Their experiences and their responses are thoughtful and “modern” which is engaging if ahistorical.
The performance is excellent: male and female adults and children- remarkable.

Heartwarming and fun rags to riches story
Narration was good
I would recommend this to all who love Regency

Just fun

Why do so many authors create the women to be so unlikable. Judith was petty, and miserably unlikable most of the time. Leander was such a good, honest and sweet man. Not sure in real life a man would put up with a woman like this.. unless she’s stunningly beautiful. Of the series this is my least favorite so far.

Great narrator.

On December 1st I start to listen to historical fiction set at holiday time. It has to be heartwarming and uplifting. This book was a fun addition to my Christmas library. I think I will also listen to the other Rogue books.

Uplifting for the holiday

Christmas Angel was a fun listen! I thoroughly enjoyed the story of an older-(ish) widow with children—a nice change from the usual virginal teenage maiden.

A fun listen

I loved this story. The widowed single mother found love for the first time. The narrator is not my favorite, too sing-song-ie. Otherwise very good storyline!

Lovely

Only dislike is the willingness of the female lead to go completely nutty and go at her husband for things that aren’t really under is control or if they are under his control it’s do to omission lying which she’s just as guilty of.

A solid B
