In July 2004, Barack Obama electrified the Democratic National Convention with an address that spoke to Americans across the political spectrum. Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy".

Story
In this lyrical, unsentimental, and compelling memoir, the son of a Black African father and a White American mother searches for a workable meaning to his life as a Black American. It begins in New York, where Barack Obama learns that his father - a figure he knows more as a myth than as a man - has been killed in a car accident. This sudden death inspires an emotional odyssey - first to a small town in Kansas, from which he retraces the migration of his mother’s family to Hawaii, and then to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family.

An international conspiracy among powerful bankers, business leaders, and government officials; closed-door meetings in the Swiss Alps; and calls for a radical transformation of every society on earth - the Great Reset sounds like it is one henchman-with-an-eyepatch away from being the plot for the next James Bond movie. But The Great Reset is not a work of fiction. It is a highly influential movement among the world’s elite to “reset” the global economy using banks, government programs, and environmental, social, and governance metrics.

Story
When Bernie Sanders began his race for the presidency, it was considered by the political establishment and the media to be a "fringe" campaign, something not to be taken seriously. After all, he was just an independent senator from a small state with little name recognition. His campaign had no money, no political organization, and it was taking on the entire Democratic Party establishment. By the time Sanders' campaign came to a close, however, it was clear that the pundits had gotten it wrong.

Donald Trump is unlike any president we've ever had. He is the only person ever elected to be commander in chief who has not first held public office or served as a general in the military. His principles grow out of five decades of business and celebrity success - not politics - so he behaves differently from traditional politicians.

Story
It’s getting harder to get big things done in America. The gears of our democracy have been mucked up by political nonsense. To meet the era-defining challenges of the 21st century, our country needs a reboot. In American Reboot, Hurd, called “the future of the GOP” by Politico, provides a “detailed blueprint” (Robert M. Gates, Secretary of Defense, 2006–2011) for America grounded by what Hurd calls pragmatic idealism—a concept forged from enduring American values to achieve what is actually achievable.

Story
From Brexit in the UK, to Donald Trump in the US, to extremist parties in Europe and the developing world, populism has dominated recent headlines. What explains this rise of leaders who stoke nationalist anger in their countries, from Le Pen to Erdogan? How long will the populist wave last? Who will be the winners and losers in this climate, and how can we defend the values of democracy, free trade, and international cooperation? No one is better suited to explore these questions than Ian Bremmer, who has built his career on assessing global risk for his clients.

Story
Unequal access to technology and the revenue it creates is one of the most pressing issues in the United States. An economic gulf exists between those who have struck gold in the tech industry and those left behind by the digital revolution; a geographic divide between those in the coastal tech industry and those in the heartland whose jobs have been automated; and existing inequalities in the technological access—students without computers, rural workers with spotty WiFi, and many workers without the luxury to work remotely.

proof is n the pudding
this is a very good listen ..from the narrator to the wonderful ideas that Obama has in store for the upcoming years in office. Even if you did not vote for Obama I would definetly suggest this book to anyone that wants a brief outline of what change is about to take place. If your wealthy you might find his mission hard to swallow but I'm sure the majority of people that land on this page are not wealthy.

I left it too long
I started reading this during Obama's first term but did not make it too far. Picked it up again after Trump's presidency and the country has already gone to the dogs. Only the second Audible book that I have not finished but more my fault than the authors or the books.

Okay...
The first 5 hours of this audiobook can be skipped, they are campaign promises to why you should vote for him, one question constantly plagues my mind is, WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GET THE MONEY...and HOW, but promises are made to be broken...
The second part is what I found really moving and worth listening to, it gives insight into a truly learned and sophisticated American, although I do not think him left enough, left to the centre is better than extreme right.

GARBAGE!
What would have made Change We Can Believe In better?
If Obama had actually read it, cover to cover!!
Has Change We Can Believe In turned you off from other books in this genre?
no change
What aspect of Andre Blake’s performance would you have changed?
Obama should have read this book!!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Change We Can Believe In?
Everything that sounded like..."Barack Obama will..." it's a total advertising ploy, with very little supporting information.
Any additional comments?
I just finished Mitt Romney's book...it was read by him and it didn't read like some to do list and it didn't sound insincere. Romney actually read it. It felt more like a conversation that some political to do list.
