About this listen
Cash is a car mechanic with a secret. Head down, sleeves up, he hides from the past as much as his shattered heart, until a reluctant stumble into a Tottenham bar ends in the one-night stand of his dreams.
Hunt saboteur Rae can't believe his luck when he wakes up the next morning. Cash is gorgeous, and the hottest hookup he's ever had. He doesn't expect to see him again, until a twist of fate lands him on Cash's doorstep a few months later.
United by a cause that's broken Cash before, they are drawn together. They have more in common than they ever imagined, but with Cash haunted by the past, and Rae so tangled in the present, it's not long before love isn't enough to keep them alive.
Contains mature themes.

Story
Dominic Ramos is a Premiership football player with a secret. There are no trophies for being gay in his game. Locked into his rep as the meanest defender on the pitch, keeping his secret is soul-crushing, but love has no place in his sport, even if his soft heart craves it. Lucky Coleman is on his knees when he meets a man with more money than sense. It's a Grindr hook-up for cash, not a love match, but dreaming of his desperate, kind eyes earns a place amongst his numerous bad habits.

Opposites attract. The outlaw biker and the accountant. Straightlaced vs straight to hell. Or heaven, depending on how you look at it. And you can look at it any way you like, doesn't mean it's true. Either way, falling for snarky Alexei Ivanov is the lightbulb moment I've been waiting for my whole damn life. Or at least since my head got turned by someone else. Story
Yani Nicolaou is sworn off love for good. After fleeing a bad break-up in London, the only blood, sweat, and tears he has left are for his gyro stall at the Christmas market. Rebound fling? No thanks. He’s sticking to one-night-stands. Ex-army vet Gavin Richie has even less capacity for romance. Managing a homeless shelter while recovering from injury keeps him far too busy. So what if he’s often alone? He’s content being single, or so he thinks until a chance meeting lights a spark he can’t ignore.

Harrison Phillip Fletcher III isn't supposed to be here. Not in Burlington, Vermont, not running Vino & Veritas, a quaint inclusive bookstore and wine bar, and definitely not still alive, at 42. Also not supposed to be here? An unexpected delivery of chickens. Finn Barnes knows chickens. The burly organic farmer knows all about rare breed poultry, but dealing with a hot older bookseller is an entirely different matter. City-slicker types like Harrison never end up staying in Vermont for the long-term. They should steer clear of each other. But the flare of attraction is mutual.

Writer saves this
The narrator is trash. I don’t understand the need to make the end of every sentence breathy but speeding it up didn’t even help. If the story wasn’t so good I would have noped out of this whole series. As is, I’m finishing it but it’s because I found the characters and writing so engaging. I wish it had a different narrator

All in for the cause
This is a title that will grab you and you'll love it, or you will be turned off by the primary plot direction that it might be a tough slog. The animal rights aspect of the plot is far from just a part of the story, it challenges Cash and Rae for main focus. Leigh does a fine job of creating the hunt world for the reader, but at times it takes over the story. There is a lot of build up as to why Cash feels a need to not be a part of Rae's world - a world he was once a part of. When we finally get the full story, Leigh doesn't do enough with it. Both with the exposition, or how she weaves it through the rest of the book. It is a bit of a let down. I think we get a pretty good idea of Rae from things he says about his family and growing up, but we never witness actual interactions with his parents, something that could have been beneficial. Cash does a lot of hand wringing and waffling. And again, Leigh drinks from the well of misunderstandings quite unnecessarily. There is so much drama in this book, she could have leaned on outside forces rather than another couple struggling with mistrust.
Grindell again navigates not only a host of British accents but also adds Irish and Welsh to the mix. I find his ability to bring out the grit in these guys a delight.
One thing Leigh does exceedingly well is to incorporate Lucky and Dom from the first book. I love how we see how Dom has grown since book one, we see that other side of him that we knew was there. Lucky is nicely established in his new life. While I was leery of the quasi roommate situation, as Leigh has written these guys, it is clear that Dom needed a place of community and Lucky needed to continue being independent, ultimately the house sharing makes sense.
The Skins series always had the sex club woven into the books, it wasn't bad per se, but it got a bit old. Without the sex club, which felt like a gimmick, in this series, Leigh instead has these guys connected by love and friendship. Highly recommend.

Good story
Garrett Leigh is a really good author. I felt all the caracters and the story is realistic and belivable. Also love the humor in between all the serious topics. And the focus on animal cruelty is perfect timing, because here in Norway we are tryning to get rid of the fur industry right about now. It is all over the media and in politics. It will take us a few years, but we are getting there!
I really liked the narrator, but maybe he reads a little to forceful...
Over all it is a good book and i am going to buy the next one right now 😀

Characters
I love that the guys are just normal people who are trying to fix an issue in their neck of the woods. Like it feels so real and normal. The voices for each character are dome better than book 1 imo.
