About this listen
This collection brings together all the Cascor stories, including four that began with the discriminator as a supporting character in the series about Raffalon the unlucky thief. It includes three more that ran in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, plus two original novelettes and a short novella about the sorceress Margolyam, who became one of Cascor’s strange “family” of operatives.

Fantastic Story, Surprisingly Great Virtual Narration
Matthew Hughes delivers clever, richly imagined tales with his collection Cascor. The worldbuilding is sharp, and Cascor is a compelling, likable detective. I was skeptical about virtual narration, but it actually worked really well—clear, well-paced, and easy to follow. Only a few weird parts. Overall, a great listen for fans of sci-fo in the vein of Jack Vance.
