About this listen

Is there a philosophy behind owning a pet? What was Ayn Rand like with her cats? Why is the death of a pet so devastating and how can you most enjoy them in life? Leonard Peikoff, foremost interpreter of Ayn Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism, answers these and other questions in this charming new book about pets.

This absorbing book makes an amusing and thought-provoking compendium on pets from the world’s foremost Objectivists. In this collection of essays, Peikoff delves with insight, humor, and philosophy into the meaning of loving a pet.

From Ayn Rand’s lighter side as a cat owner to Leonard Peikoff’s advice on how to cope with the loss of a beloved canine friend, Can You Really Love a Dog? promises to add value to every moment of your life with a cat or dog.

I very much enjoyed this book. I always had a feeling that Leonard Peikoff was a closet dog-lover but I had never hear him speak on it at length and knew nothing of Ayn Rand’s cats. Objectivists get scarce little new content quote from the mouths of Objectivism’s parents, so this was a pleasant surprise. My compliments to the author.

An excellent read with totally fresh material
