The Viet Nam war was in full swing, as Jonathan baker reports to reception station to soon after begin combat basic training at Fort Lenardwood Missouri, after completing basic it was off to Fort Knox Kentucky for armor tank training, having arrived he soon was assigned to an armor recon scout training, where he learned to drive Sheridan tanks, and to qualifie with the weapons on board. After his additional training was complete, he was off to Viet Nam. Arriving in Nam he soon meets his tank commander and his assigned unit, attached to the 1/87th 8th Infantry division, soon after he was in the thick of it as they're duty was to go on armored recon scouting missions, to locate and report on enemy troop, location,s, their numbers., along with type weapons the enemy had. They were an important asset to their Infantry unit, and Air Calvary, who would then set out to destroy the enemy strong holds. The scouts mission complete they were to head back to base camp taking out any enemy troops they encountered alomg the way, hoping to make it back alive, and be ready for their next recon mission.
