About this listen
All Zara wanted to do was pass her Spanish final and graduate high school, but suddenly she’s waking up in an unknown hospital. The east coast is destroyed and she’s one of the few survivors. The government has assigned her to Outpost Eight, an abandoned Catskills resort converted into a fortress. Not only does Zara have to come to terms with the loss of everything she’s ever known, but the leader of Outpost Eight marries her to his son.
Cliff Andrews is too quiet and afraid of everything, especially his father. There’s much more to the situation than he’s telling Zara. Nothing feels right about Outpost Eight and Zara questions what really happened to Cliff’s first wife.
Everyone else might be willing to blindly follow the leader’s laws, but not Zara. She won’t stop until she knows the truth about Outpost Eight.

A witch’s magical orbs. Clan Wars that have lasted centuries. A heritage shrouded in secrecy. Welcome to 17-year-old Banon Andreeta’s world. Banon is a child of Clan Genae and can do things most people can’t. Which might account for her rebellious behavior. Or maybe she’s just a magnet for trouble. Either way, she’s in hot water more often than the average teen. When she rejects Fred, a random creep at the mall, she makes an enemy who will bring unwanted attention from Clan Julae, her own clan’s mortal enemy.

Story
This is the story of a woman who some claim is a myth, someone who never existed at all—a character made up from a composite of representative metaphysical personalities prevalent in occult groups at the turn of the last century. And yet...there are others, many others, perhaps millions who have seen her face on hundreds of UFO and paranormal websites and TV shows. They have gazed at images of the enigmatic woman called Maria and are convinced she is real and her story is real too.

Young adult suspense....
This young adult book had an interesting premise that flipped for a surprise ending. It was a light read: clean, but with adult themes. Heavy on feminism, light on character development. It didn't really do anything for me and felt like it needed more work, but if you are into young adult suspense books, this might be right up your alley!

So Much Action in Such Little Time
The world’s been destroyed. Zara has been in a medically induced coma for five years. Or so she’s been told. When Zara is groomed to acclimation in a place known as Outpost Eight, filled with the belief that a terrorist attack destroyed her country and she and a handful of others were the only survivors. It’s not long before things start to not add up. Questions are forming. The most haunting of all: is it all a lie?
Full of twists and turns. At first, the book seemed so straight forward, but as the book came to a close, it was jolting to see just how much suspense the author could pack into the book. Zara was an easy MC to root for. She was sweet but determined. A strong character. I also liked Cliff, Zara’s “Bunker Boy.” Even though I shouldn’t, I found myself feeling sorry for him.
Although a short listen, it’s definitely a rollercoaster.
Narration was soft and lilting which fit the sweet personality of the MC.

Great Read
Bunker Boy was a good read by Jordan Elizabeth. Zara was studying for her Spanish final and looking forward to graduating high school. But next thing she knows, she's waking up in an unknown hospital. The east coast is destroyed and Zara is one of the few survivors. She was assigned to Outpost Eight by the government. Zara is set to marry the leader of the outpost's son. Cliff is very quiet and afraid of everything. Zara knows that he isn't telling her the whole truth. I really enjoyed reading Cliff and Zara's story.

Great YA Story
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I thought the plot was unique; I've never read anything like it! But this wasn't a surprise when I realized I had read another book by Jordan Elizabeth (Rogue Crystal) with a cool, different plot. This one brought up lots of fears that women, young and old, have in their daily lives and I enjoyed following Zara along as she discovered the truth.
The only downfall to this audiobook was the narrator. I really wanted the voice of Zara to be a teenage girl's voice, but it sounded much older, yet whiny and nasally.

Great post-apocalyptic short story!
Bunker Boy by Jordan Elizabeth was a super unexpected and fun listen. Initially, after hearing the narration, I was expecting to have a super hard time listening to this story. Thankfully, I adjusted to it because I was enjoying the story so darn much! This is the story of Zara, who wakes up five years into the future and learns that the world has been attacked and she was saved and how she must live at Outpost 8, one of the "safe" zones. Since they are trying to save the future of humanity, she is assigned to marry Cliff and start a family. Zara becomes suspicious of Outpost 8 and their rules almost immediately...There's a lot packed into this story in such a short time, but it was written really well and I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone that likes the summary. You won't be disappointed!
Tracy Hundley did a decent job narrating this story. As I mentioned earlier, I didn't really care for the narration but quickly got used to it, so it didn't take away from the story, thankfully. There were some weird pronunciations such as NICU being Nick-ooh, which I've never heard anyone pronounce it like that. The narration sounded a little juvenile for the character and I think her voice may be better suited for a younger character versus a 23-year-old. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Ruined by Narrator
First let me review the main topic; the book itself:
Zara is a highly sheltered 18 year old senior in high school, with the emotional maturity of a 14 year old. One minute, she is studying for final exams and asking her uncle to turn down his loud, distracting music, and the next she finds herself awakening from a 5 year medically induced coma.
She is told that she is a survivor of a post apocalyptic bombing and is one of many responsible for re-populating the community. She complies but distrusts a lot of what she is being told.
Her scepticism and instinct to survive drives her to find answers and truth. No spoilers beyond that. This is a great book for teens; not so much for adults. Not one of my favorite Jordan Elizabeth books, but a great premise.
And now onto the Narrator. This Narrator absolutely butchered this book. The words on the page implied that Zara is headstrong, sceptical and intelligent. The voice the narration depicts is that of a whiney, naive, clueless child. It took everything in me not to quit this audible rendition, but since the author provided it to me free of charge, I felt obligated to finish it. This is a good book but the Narrator absolutely RUINS it. I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it in print or on Kindle. I will make a mental note of this narrators name and make sure I NEVER listen to another book she reads.

Unique Plot -- Well Worth Listening
I received this book free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Once I started this book, I didn't want to stop listening. I agree with some of the other reviews that the narration was not as polished as other books I've heard (certainly not terrible, but seemed inexperienced). However, the story was so well written and captivating that I didn't even notice the narration after the first chapter. This book lead me through a variety of emotions while listening: fear, outrage, intrigue, anger. It really had me guessing, and kept surprising me with twists and turns that made the plot unique and enjoyable. I loved this so much that I am having my husband read it, so we can talk about it together. I highly recommend this book, and plan to check out other books written by this talented author.
