About this listen

A firsthand look into Kim Walker-Smith's journey from a place of shame and fear to stages around the world where she boldly proclaims the unconditional love of God.

Kim Walker-Smith's passionate performance of "How He Loves" helped transform Jesus Culture into a global worship movement. But she wasn't always so confident of God's unrelenting, powerful love.

Coming from a painful childhood, Kim struggled to believe that God could heal her heart or bring any sense from her past. Yet when she chose to hand her struggles over to God and receive his love, freedom, and healing in return, everything began to change. On the other side of surrender, Kim began a journey of looking at one painful memory at a time with God and exchanging her perspective for his truth - a journey in which God rewrote her story of pain into a story of redemption and hope.

If you are longing to experience God more than the shame or hurts of your past, the pressures of your present, or the fear of your future, Brave Surrender offers a soul-healing path forward. As Kim learned in her own life, the first step - and the bravest step - is letting go. Once we let go of anything that gets between us and God, we are freed to take hold of the life that truly matters. As Kim writes, "When we encounter God's love, it changes the way we see. And when we learn to see what He sees, we will never be the same again."

Thank you, Kim Walker-Smith, for sharing your story. I’m lots older than you but can relate very much to the struggles and emotions you described. Thank you for your vulnerability, passion and grit. I’m very inspired and grateful for the “weakness and fears” you described and how God has loved you enough to bring you back to face the same issues over and again to heal you on a deeper level—and here I thought I was the only one!! You sound like family and are a blessing to many. Highly recommended.

I’m on a solo retreat and could not find an audiobook that felt right. I literally said to myself that I wanted a book by a woman who walked in great intimacy with Jesus and is full of joy. Kim Walker-Smith’s name came to mind and I was surprised to see this book show up when I put her name in! I’m a worship leader too so double bonus. 🙌🏾 I was SHOCKED to find out that she dreaded that viral video, This made me realize that I also overthink and try to cover up what God wants to expose for His glory. I’m so grateful to have discovered this book!

So glad I found this

I love Kim’s honesty and vulnerability as she shares her struggles. Was a very good book to read. It has been helpful to me also, as I can relate to some things in her childhood and trauma.

Love Kim’s testimony and everything that God brought her from!

I’ve been listening to Jesus Culture music for years. I’ve attended their conferences. I’ve heard Kim Walker-Smith speak. She has always been very open with her struggles. I think this is so important because a lot of us tend to think people in ministry have to have everything together and perfect. This book isn’t necessarily “here’s the message and some real life examples to drive the point home,” like a lot of Christian books do. This is, “here is my life and my journey to where I am today. The good. The bad. The ugly.” These are real emotions and I feel like Kim does an excellent job of expressing herself. I am honestly glad I listened to it because it seemed only fitting to hear her tell her story. Take the time to listen.

Very Impactful
